Zohran Mamdani broke ground on NYC's first government-run supermarket this week, and every taxpayer is footing the bill. This isn't a new idea. The Soviet Union ran government grocery stores. So did Venezuela. You know what came with them? Empty shelves, rationing, and lines around the block. New York drove up grocery costs through decades of taxes and regulation, and now wants to spend more of your money to fix the problem it created. These programs never stay small. The same government that can't fix the subway now wants to run your grocery store.

Chevron is now telling CA customers at the pump: “California politicians are choosing foreign oil and fuels over local jobs and lower costs.” Californians are getting crushed at the pump, thanks to decades of taxes, regulations, refinery closures, and green mandates coming out of Sacramento. Big respect to Chevron for putting the truth right where drivers see it every single time they fill up.

Looks like California Democrats have a contingency plan for the June gubernatorial primary to prevent two Republicans from advancing to the general election, yet they’ve never seemed concerned when two Democrats end up claiming both spots. Newsom’s take: “There’s many people that have a deep understanding of what it would look like if Democrats were locked out, and we’re going to do everything to make sure that doesn’t happen. Smart politics or backroom maneuvering?

In her latest solo dissent on a Louisiana redistricting case, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson went nuclear with personal attacks on the integrity, credibility, and good faith of her fellow justices. The response? A rare joint rebuke from Justices Alito, Thomas, and Gorsuch calling her dissent “groundless and utterly irresponsible.” This breaks all sorts of judicial norms. Is this what “judicial temperament” looks like on the highest court in the land?

The DOJ unsealed charges against the 94-year-old Castro and regime officials for ordering the 1996 shootdown of two unarmed Brothers to the Rescue planes, killing four people, including Cuban-American pilots. The superseding indictment includes conspiracy to kill U.S. nationals, destruction of aircraft, and four counts of murder. Long-overdue justice for the victims’ families and the Cuban exile community that has waited decades for accountability.

You can’t make this stuff up. Today for their 5 year anniversary, the Southwest Library in DC is throwing a big “birthday party” for kids and families. Face painting, crafts, yard games, popsicles… cute, right? But the main event? Drag Queen Storytelling. While only 34.8% of DC 3rd–5th graders can actually read at grade level. Our public libraries have decided the best way to “celebrate” literacy is to put grown men in drag in front of little children instead of laser-focusing on teaching them to READ.

A Minnesota grocer was charged this week with running a $1.1 million food stamp fraud scheme. He used EBT cards registered to others to buy goods at Costco and Sam's Club, then resold them for profit. SNAP is a federally funded program. That means every American taxpayer footed this bill.
