Regarding Patrick Agyemang: 10 goals, 3 assists in the English Championship Yet another example in a never-ending list that the USMNT is the platform, and the USMNT manager (whether controlled or not by MLS) is the gatekeeper to *success. Which is why that position is so vital. This is a player, like countless others, who was a nobody and considered to be TERRIBLE, and was made into a somebody. Of course, let's not take credit away from players and the critical role they ultimately play in seizing their opportunities. Many have been given opportunities, only for them to squander. However, like Pat, there have been and currently are countless others who are just as good if not better who were not, and are not, platformed. Understand, this reality is greatly exacerbated to insane [and regularly corrupt] levels in the US. It is not a *meritocracy, like so many have been led to believe. p.s. I'm very happy for Pat, as I love when players seize their opportunities and "make it".
