The Burger King in my town used to do this all the time. They had 2 parking lots, one large and small. The large one was right next to an Animal Hospital and when the hospital parking lot was full the customers would park in the massive open lot with plenty of space. The Burger King owner would walk out and call a tow truck after seeing the drive walk into the hospital. Hospital staff had to park a quarter mile away on the curb because they also were not allowed to park in the Burger King parking lot

After circling for almost a half of an hour and couldn’t find a parking spot in one of the busiest areas she was in, this woman spots a Burger King . She thinks nothing of it, she’s only going to be gone a few minutes so she took a shot. She comes back to see her car towed and blames the employee for being snarky when they told her they towed her. There was a tow sign posted there so how was this not her fault? In college I was out drinking with friends and we couldn’t find a spot to park. I ended up parking next to a dumpster in the parking lot at a bar. From what I remember, there wasn’t a sign saying I couldn’t park there nor was there a sign saying they would tow me. By the time I came back out with friends, my car was gone. I was so loaded I didn’t put 2 and 2 together and thought I must have parked elsewhere. My friends and I started to walk around the surrounding bars hoping that I had parked elsewhere. After walking around for almost an hour, we were beginning to over up so that we could think rationally again. We walked into the bar and asked if they had towed our car and one of the servers told us that they did because I blocked their dumpster. It was the weekend and they wouldn’t let me get my car back until Monday. By the time I got my car back I owed for a tow and two days storage.
