@TQ_Iced @TopTierPucks Detroit in 2008 was another level. Datsyuk and Zetterberg were out there shutting Crosby down at every opportunity. Osgood shut them out the first two games and could’ve been a Conn Smythe recipient. Same in 2009 (Detroit wins if Hossa shows up for the finals).

His line got out produced and they still won. Quite literally bailed out.

Martin Jones (San Jose) had equally good numbers and 2 more shutouts in the 2016 playoffs than Murray. Neither of them were the best goaltenders in the playoffs.

@TQ_Iced @TopTierPucks Were you old enough to actually watch those finals? No one thought Crosby was “bailed out” by goaltending. He was the most dominant player on the ice. Wasn’t just relied on for scoring. Played against the other teams top lines in all situations. I’m not even a Pens fan.
