“It was my first time seeing Baba crying.” Sinna is 11 years old. Houses were burning and everywhere was full of black smoke people were running Airplanes were dropping bombs on people. It was my first time seeing Baba crying. Kids are not supposed to draw war and fire They are supposed to paint sun, homes, school and dreams bigger than their lives. At their age, children in other places portray themselves as doctors, teachers, or even astronauts... Except Sudanese children, war stole imagination from them A drawing from a child's hand is a mirror to the sweet world... So, let us ask ourselves. What did we show the Children? #ChildVoices #ProtectChildren #RefugeeStories #EndTheWar #VoicesOfChildren #SudaneseGovernment

A survivor navigating uncertainty, a young Sudanese refugee mother is raising her child and her younger sister alone while coping with the loss of contact with her husband and the weight of not knowing what happened to him. Through counseling, we are able to listen and document her story. traid.org/2026/04/02/sup… Her story reflects the reality of many Sudanese women who continue to live with the impact of war, separation, and uncertainty. #MentalHealthMatters #PsychosocialSupport #WomenEmpowerment #TraumaRecovery #DisplacedWomen #StandWithSudan

This is Fayha’a, a 14-year-old girl from Khartoum. In her drawing, she didn’t sketch war. She drew her school. traid.org/2026/04/01/a-d… El-Hakim International School, painted blue. Her favorite color, she said. Every morning, her father would drive her to school and drop her at the gate, and head to work. She would walk into the school compound, just like any other student, starting their school day. And then there’s Khadija. Her best friend. The one she use to do assignment with, and shared stories with. Those small, ordinary moments that don’t feel like much at the time… but somehow become every memories in her life today . When the war started, everything changed she said. When you are a child, you don’t imagine a day will come when everything disappears. You don’t think you might lose your school, your routine, or even the chance to see your best friends again. Today, Fayha’a is living in a refugee camp the life she never expected. Her school is gone. Her best friend is nowhere to be found. And maybe that’s what this drawing is all about We share her story because behind every child displaced by war, there is a life that existed before it, a life full of color, friendship, and small daily joys that deserve to be seen, remembered, and protected. Fayha’a still hopes to see her best friend Khadija again one day. #ChildPsychosocialSupport #WarAffectedChildren #Displacement #RefugeeChildren #TraumaHealing #MentalHealthMatters #HumanitarianWork #ChildrenInConflict #HealingThroughArt #TRAID #SudanHumanitarian #ChildProtection

On March 8, while the world marked International Women's Day, children in #Sudan experienced a devastating drone attack. Children continue to carry deep trauma from repeated attacks on civilian areas. Fear, grief, and emotional wounds are becoming part of the childhood many are growing up with. Under International Humanitarian Law and the Convention on the Rights of the Child, civilians and children must be protected. Yet in Sudan, homes, schools, hospitals, and markets have faced repeated attacks for decades. The world must not stay silent. Protect civilians. #Sudan #ProtectChildren

#InternationalWomensDay For every Sudanese woman… For the woman who endured the war… Who woke up to the sound of gunfire and explosions, and had no time to cry, because her children needed her arms first. For the woman who carried her children and left… Left her home, her neighborhood, her city… and walked a road whose end she did not know. For the woman who left behind a husband, a brother, or family… Her heart split between what she left and what lies ahead. For the woman who was displaced, who sought refuge, who stood in long lines… Who slept with fear and woke up every day saying: we must keep going… for the children. You didn’t just go through the war… You resisted it. You are the hands that cook from very little and make it enough for many. You are the heart that gives safety even when it is full of fear. You are the back that kept standing despite exhaustion and pain. The war tired you… it drained you… But it could not break your spirit. That is why today we say to you: You are not just a woman… you are a whole story of resilience. Every year, may you remain strong. Every year, may you keep standing despite the weight you carry. And every year, Sudanese women continue writing new stories of courage. Happy International Women’s Day 💜

9-year-old Yazeed from Al Wadi in Al Fasher gives us a glimpse into the fear and trauma caused by the ongoing conflict in Sudan, shared through a drawing during a therapy session. traid.org/2026/03/05/imp… We were at home with my mom, my little brother Adam, my sister Hawa, and my grandmother. We heard many gunshots. Mom shouted, ‘Go under the bed!’ Many soldiers came with cars. We saw them through the window. Mom was crying and told us to be quiet. She said my children, ‘They are going to kill us.’ I saw a small plane flying in the sky. I was very scared. I didn’t know what was happening. Later that day, mom said we are going to Tawila. We came out and there were many people walking on the road. Soldiers were beating them. #ChildrenInConflict #ProtectSudanChildren #SudanCrisis #ChildProtection #WarAffectedChildren

Over the weekend, we conducted a two-day engagement on psychosocial support for Sudanese survivor refugees at our center in partnership with #RelationalDiamondFoundation. The engagement focused on group counselling therapy sessions, psychosocial support, discussions on hygiene and reproductive health, Luganda lessons, and sharing stories and different cultures. It was beautiful to see the smiles and signs of healing on the faces of the women, and to feel that Ugandan communities truly care about their wellbeing and recovery. Thank you, RDF, for standing with us and with the refugee women. #TraumaRescueAid #RelationalDiamondFoundation #RefugeeWomen #PsychosocialSupport #GroupCounselling #HealingTogether #CommunitySupport #Uganda

On the first day of #Ramadan, a drone strike hit a water borehole in Umm Rusum Village, West Kordofan, at 1:00 pm while civilians were fetching water. 18 civilians, including children from several families, were killed. Communities are now living in fear, grief, and deep trauma. We call for an immediate end to attacks on civilians and urgent protection for Sudan’s children. #Sudan #HumanRights #ProtectChildren traid.org/2026/02/19/wes…

As the holy month of #Ramadanbegins, let us remember the millions of people in #Sudan who will struggle to eat one meal a day. In this month of generosity and giving, you can share a meal with a Sudanese family via gofundme.com/f/traid2024/cl… The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: "Whoever feeds a fasting person will have a reward like that of the fasting person, without any reduction in their reward." — Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) #Ramadan #Ramadan2026 #Sudan #FeedTheFasting #Sadaqah #Zakat #ShareAMeal #TraumaRescueAid #GiveHope

URGENT HEALTH ALERT – EAST JEBEL MARRA, SOUTH DARFUR Date: 12 February 2026 The ongoing war in Sudan continues to severely affect civilians, especially those living in remote and conflict-affected areas. In East Jebel Marra, South Darfur, the shutdown of Dribat Rural Hospital has created a serious health emergency. Dribat Rural Hospital was the only main health facility serving the local population in this area. Its closure has left thousands of people without access to essential medical services As a result, a mother tragically died this morning from childbirth complications that could have been prevented if proper medical care had been available. traid.org/2026/02/12/eme… #SaveJebelMarraMothers #EastJebelMarraCriesForHelp #RightsForHealthcare

Why Is the War in Sudan Not in the Headlines? Every day in South Kordofan, women and children are dying of starvation, violence, and trauma in silence. Families are being erased. Homes, schools, markets, and places of worship are destroyed. Women and children are paying the highest price. And yet, this war in south Kordofan rarely makes global headlines. The #UN and #HumanitarianOrganizations have repeatedly raised alarms about the situation in South Kordofan. The United Nations has described conditions there as “siege-like,” with civilians cut off from food, medical care, and basic services as fighting continues to erupt around key towns like #Dilling, #Hiban and Kadugli. traid.org/2026/01/29/war… #HiddenAtrocities #SouthKordofan #HumanRightsViolations

This is an ongoing, hidden atrocity that civilians are paying for, and almost no one is speaking about it. What is happening right now in South Kordofan is not only a humanitarian crisis. It is a serious violation of human rights and international humanitarian law. Civilians are being forced to flee their homes and hide in bushes and remote areas just to stay alive. Families are stranded in fear, without food, water, or medical care. Many cannot move because fighting continues around them. They are trapped. This suffering is not accidental. It is the direct result of actions that place civilians in harm’s way and deny them protection. Under international humanitarian law, civilians must be protected during armed conflict. They must never be targeted, punished, or forced to live in inhumane conditions. Access to food, water, shelter, and medical care is not optional. It is a legal obligation, even during war. Yet in South Kordofan, civilians are being left to survive in silence. Hidden from view. Forgotten by the world. Silence does not mean these violations are not happening. It only means they are happening without witnesses. #HiddenAtrocities #SouthKordofan #HumanRightsViolations
