In 2017 Black trans femme Tee Tee Dangerfield was murdered in metro Atlanta. Tyrone Kemp was charged with murdering her. In 2021, a Fulton County jury found Tyrone Kemp not guilty of murdering Tee Tee Dangerfield. During the trial, the issue of LGBTQ+ Panic Defense was used.

In the past couple of weeks, 2 Black trans women were murdered by gun violence. Koko Williams and Ashley Burton were murdered a week apart from each other. This hits close to home as members of our team are connected to both women. May they Rest in Power! #blackTRANSlivesmatter
