NANOTECH ISN’T SCIFI ANYMORE—SCIENTISTS JUST TATTOOED A MICROSCOPIC ANIMAL
Tardigrades are basically the cockroaches of the microscopic world—except cuter and way harder to kill.
Now scientists just froze one, blasted it with an electron beam, and gave it a legit nanotech tattoo.
The process, called ice lithography (because of course it is), used frozen chemicals and lasers to leave behind tiny patterns—some just 72 nanometers wide.
Bonus: the water bear shrugged it off like a champ and kept crawling like nothing happened.
About 40% survived their sci-fi makeover, and scientists say this is just the beginning.
Next stop? Micro-cyborgs and electronics printed straight onto living things. Hope your skin’s ready.
