My big tip for #indieauthors of #childrensbooks: BEFORE your illustrator starts the artwork, hire an #Editor. If the illustrations are underway and you want to make a few changes, it could cost you time and money.

@AlisonReyxxx @t0nit0ne The fewer you invite, the fewer will decline. We invited 54 to our wedding and 52 came. If you invite 500, then you would expect 100 (20%) to decline.

@t0nit0ne Also though, if you have a little bit of wiggle room, I would recommend inviting more than your cap. We had about 20% decline and I’d wished I had invited more people I wanted there but chose not to invite due to capacity. Then we had another 10-20% cancel a week before. Crazy.

Q: how old are your kids and what time do they go to bed? My husband thinks 9pm is too late for a 10yo, but I my bedtime was always 9 as a kid!
