There is no controversy about Thadou identity. One individual’s (say, Nemcha Kipgen, Deputy CM of Manipur) views do not determine the identity of the entire Thadou community as Kuki. The Thadou community exists independently of any individual’s personal or political stance.

MEDIA RELEASE 22 March, 2026 No More Proxy Deals: Enforce Law, End Militancy, and Reclaim Peace in Manipur The Kuki-Zo Council (KZC), a proxy of Kuki Inpi Manipur, and Kuki Inpi Manipur, a proxy of the unconstitutional and illegal “Any Kuki tribes (ST),” are pursuing anti-Manipur, anti-Thadou, anti-Meitei, anti-Naga, and anti-Zomi activities at various levels. These entities are using armed Kuki militant groups and religious church influence to mislead and subdue the Thadou population, effectively using them as instruments to create unrest in the state of Manipur for several decades. Such actions are contributing to violent activities that disturb communities across Manipur, thereby creating confusion, instability, and internal security concerns within the state. The Government of India is unfortunately alleged to have taken advantage of this situation by engaging with these elements to counter Meitei and Naga insurgent groups, by signing Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreements with them. The government’s continued appeasement of the Kuki separatist subscribers and supremacists should be reconsidered immediately in the interest of peace and stability in the state of Manipur. Instead, recognition and support should be extended to genuine Manipuri communities such as Thadou, Hmar, Zomi (comprising seven tribes—Paite, Gangte, Simte, Vaiphei, Sukte, Zou, and Mate), and Mizo (comprising two tribes—Any Mizo (Lushai) tribes and Ralte), who are pro-peace and non-violent communities that have been severely impacted and displaced by the ongoing Manipur violence since 2023. We call upon Mr. Yumnam Khemchand Singh, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Manipur, his office, and the Government of Manipur to disclose the minutes or records of the meeting held with the unrepresented and unmandated body, the Kuki-Zo Council, in Guwahati on 21 March, 2026, in the interest of Manipur, and further urge the Government to declare the meeting null and void instead of engaging with or appeasing an fake KZC for political gain and proxy dealings. We request that the Government strengthen policing and restore law and order in the hill districts, on par with the Imphal Valley districts, by taking firm action against all anti-peace elements, including Kuki armed militants—whether covered under the SoO agreement or otherwise. Only then will the peace-loving Thadou population be able to live freely as Indian citizens with full protection under the Constitution’s fundamental rights in the hill districts of Manipur. This is the only way to restore genuine and lasting peace in Manipur by overpowering the anti-peace elements by pro-peace people for permanent peace in the state. Appeasing violent and unmandated proxy bodies like KZC will amount to proxy dealings, the consequences of which time will reveal. Issued by: Thadou Human Rights Advocacy

MEDIA CLARIFICATION Imphal, the 16th March, 2026 TSA Rejects Baseless Complaint by Lungoulen Guite Against Ashang Kasar – No Connection Between Kamjong Killing and Thadou Community 1.The Thadou Students’ Association (TSA) strongly condemns and categorically rejects the baseless complaint filed by one Lungoulen Guite in the name of “Thadou Inpi-Sadar Hills” against social activist Ashang Kasar on March 15, 2026, at Kangpokpi Police Station. This is yet another shameless exploitation of the tragic killing of two “Kuki” men (Thengin Baite and Thangboimang Khongsai) in Kamjong district, an incident with zero involvement or connection to the Thadou community, to misuse our name, fuel division, and pursue narrow political gains. 2.Lungoulen Guite, an IDP from Imphal, has absolutely no authority to invoke the Thadou in Kangpokpi district. His so-called “Thadou Inpi – Sadar Hills” is a fraudulent, unrecognized proxy outfit, repeatedly exposed and condemned by TSA-GHQ as a sham front for Kuki supremacist agendas, not of Thadou community’s mandate. 3.Ashang Kasar's remarks on Impact TV's “Manung Hutna” (Episode 58: “After Meitei-Kuki, Naga-Kuki Next?”), aired March 12, 2026, addressed the incident within the context of escalating Naga-Kuki tensions. Claims that these were “false and misleading” or promoted enmity are a deliberate distortion aimed at suppressing open discourse and protecting vested interests by Kuki supremacists in the name of Thadou. Invoking BNS Sections 196 and 353(2) will be a clear abuse of legal process aimed at intimidating critics and wrongly entangling the Thadou name in unrelated communal pain. 4.While no Kuki organizations have directly addressed recent incidents in ways that reflect genuine accountability, some factions opportunistically invoke the Thadou identity to muddy waters, exploit ethnic tensions, and drag our distinct name into unrelated conflicts. This is a calculated tactic to blur lines, misrepresent facts, and leverage the Thadou name as a shield or wedge, much like misusing shared elements of Christianity or tribal status to evoke false solidarity or sentiment. 5.The Thadou tribe remains a distinct, constitutionally recognized Scheduled Tribe with its own proud history and identity, no impostor or proxy can hijack, subsume, or weaponize it for ideological battles. This pattern of misuse, evident in proxy outfits like certain “Thadou Inpi” variants, false representations in media discussions, or attempts to link Thadou to unrelated violence, only fuels mistrust and undermines communal harmony in Manipur. It must stop immediately. 6.We denounce this complaint as outright identity theft, harassment, and an assault on free speech and harmony. Guite and his associates must immediately cease misrepresenting the Thadou community, or face unrelenting opposition from TSA and all authentic Thadou institutions. 7.The TSA reaffirms its unwavering commitment to defending Thadou autonomy, dignity, and rights while upholding peace, truth, and constitutional values in Manipur. The Thadou voice belongs solely to the Thadou people, not proxies or opportunists. No more fabrications. No more misuse. Issued by: Vicky Thadou Spokesperson,Thadou Students’ Association (TSA-GHQ)

Furthermore, the MoS document lists several Thadou villages as Kuki villages, including Lower Bolsol, Upper Bolsol, Mongon, Lhanghoi, N. Leikul, Old Ngalsong, Molnom, etc. (in Dima Hasao), and Thadou Veng, Molkhang, Mongjang, Khaibung, Songjang, Vongjang, Hengbung, Salemphai, Mimbung, Leikot, Maokot, Kotlen, Bungjol, Phailong, etc. (in Karbi Anglong). We respectfully urge the Government of Assam to exclude these Thadou villages from the proposed KWDC, as they are historically recognized Thadou villages under Thadou Mauzadar jurisdictions and traditional Thadou areas covered by KAAC and NCHAC. The Thadou language and cultural identity must be protected and respected. The long-standing All India Radio (AIR) Thadou language programme must not be renamed or replaced as a “Kuki language programme.” Likewise, the cultural heritage of the Thadou people—including traditional shawls, attire, customs, and cultural symbols—must not be portrayed or rebranded as “Kuki cultural identity.” All ethnic and cultural identity of the Thadou people must not be renamed or subsumed as “Kuki.” The Government must respect the indigenous Thadou identity in the Autonomous Districts of Assam, and recognize that the distinct Thadou identity is paramount and must be preserved. Further, in compliance with the Kaka Kalelkar Commission Report of 1955 (Backward Classes Commission, Government of India), tribes in the hill areas of Assam (undivided) and Manipur were recommended to be identified and listed according to their own distinct names based on their linguistic and cultural identities, rather than being grouped under terms such as “Kuki,” “Naga,” or “Lushai.” In line with this principle, the Thadou community should be distinctly recognized and listed separately from Any Kuki tribes in the autonomous districts of Assam, similar to the manner in which the state of Manipur complied, while Assam did not under the ST & SC Amendment Act, 1956. The ST lists of Assam were subsequently carried forward to the states of Nagaland, Mizoram, and Meghalaya, upon bifurcation which has today created confusion in the newly created states carved out of Assam. In order to ensure lasting peace and prevent future misunderstandings, we urge the Government of Assam to facilitate a written Community Understanding between the Thadou tribe and the Kuki tribe of Assam, clearly recognizing the distinct identity, cultural rights, and traditional areas of both communities. The Thadou Inpi Assam reiterates that the Thadou tribe is not a part of the Kuki Welfare and Development Council (KWDC) and calls upon the Government of Assam to ensure that all development policies and political arrangements fully respect the self-identification, cultural rights, and historical identity of the Thadou people. PRESS COMMUNIQUÉ Haflong, 16 March 2026 Thadou Inpi Assam Calls for Protection of Thadou Identity and Exclusion of Thadou Villages from KWDC The Thadou Inpi Assam, on behalf of the Thadou people of Assam, expresses its sincere appreciation to the Government of Assam for its initiative to bring an end to armed militancy in the state through the signing of the Memorandum of Settlement (MoS) with the Kuki SoO groups on 15th March, 2026. The effort to end the culture of violence and bring armed groups into the democratic mainstream is a positive and welcome step toward lasting peace, stability, and development in the hill districts of Assam. We acknowledge the decision of the Kuki armed groups to abandon militancy and participate in democratic processes, including the establishment of the Kuki Welfare and Development Council (KWDC) under the MoS. We hope that this political settlement will mark the end of coercion, supremacy, and intimidation that have affected communities in the region. However, the Thadou people of Assam, particularly in Dima Hasao and Karbi Anglong, have long suffered from unlawful activities carried out by armed groups, especially Kuki militant outfits, even during the period of Suspension of Operations (SoO). The Thadou community has often faced coercive attempts by certain elements seeking to subsume the distinct Thadou identity under the “Kuki” label. More recently, in 2025, attempts were made to prevent Thadou people from Dima Hasao and Karbi Anglong districts from participating in the Hun-Thadou Cultural Festival in Guwahati, due to direct diktats from Kuki SoO militant groups and their associated organisations, such as Kuki Inpi Assam. The community also continues to seek justice for the brutal murder of our revered leader and Thadou martyr, Mr. Nehkam Jomhao, Chairman of the Thadou Literature Society, Assam, who was abducted, tortured, mutilated, and drowned in a river on 30 August 2025, simply for pursuing dialogue, peace, and the dignity of the Thadou community. Justice for this heinous crime has not yet been fully served, as the masterminds behind these Kuki militant groups remain at large despite the arrest of some cadres. The 1992 Kuki–Thadou conflict in Assam remains unresolved, arising from disputes over identity and cultural representation. During that period, many in the Thadou community lost their lives and experienced intimidation and coercion, with their identity being pressured under the shadow of armed Kuki militancy. These historical grievances remain sensitive and require sincere dialogue and recognition. Unfortunately, Kuki militants from Manipur, who came with the purpose of suppressing Thadou cultural identity, have now been given recognition and legitimacy through the creation of the Kuki Welfare and Development Council by the Government of Assam, without a proper understanding of the issue. As a result, the people of Dima Hasao and Karbi Anglong interests have been compromised by the Assam Government in favor of the Kuki militant groups. It must also be clearly stated that the Thadou people will continue to remain under the constitutional administrative frameworks of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) and the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC), under the State of Assam. The lands and villages inhabited by the Thadou people fall within the jurisdictions of KAAC and NCHAC, and therefore cannot be placed under the Kuki Welfare and Development Council (KWDC) under any circumstances. 1/2

MEDIA RELEASE Tuesday, the 10th March, 2026 Official Rebuttal: Thadou Students’ Association Declares TI-GHQ 'Joint Declaration' Null, Void, and Defamatory 1.The Thadou Students’ Association (TSA), duly registered under the Manipur Societies Registration Act, 1989, flatly rejects and condemns the anonymous, unsigned “Joint Declaration” dated March 05, 2026, falsely issued in the name of the unregistered, illegitimate entity “Thadou Inpi – General Headquarters (TI-GHQ).” This fraudulent, unauthenticated document, lacking signatures, names, designations, seals, or any proof of legitimacy, has no legal standing and is a malicious attempt to defame and divide the Thadou community. 2.Indian law is crystal clear: only competent government authorities or courts can declare an organization unlawful. No unregistered, self-anointed faction has this power. The TI-GHQ document is an unlawful usurpation of authority, a violation of due process, and potentially criminal impersonation or criminal conspiracy. 3.Certain media outlets irresponsibly published this baseless, unsigned forgery on March 5–6, 2026, without verifying its source, authenticity, authorship, or legal validity—spreading misinformation and damaging reputations. The creation, dissemination, and amplification of this defamatory falsehood constitute criminal defamation, libel, and attempts to injure reputation and public order. Those responsible must retract publicly and stop immediately while demanding immediate corrections, retractions, and accountability from all involved outlets. 4.TSA stands unbowed, resolute, and committed to genuine Thadou progress through law, truth, and legitimate representation—not fabrications from unregistered imposters. We urge every Thadou citizen, the wider public, civil society, and responsible media to reject this anonymous forgery outright. How the "Thadou Corrective Spoken Book" Reinforces Thadou as a Unique Language and Identity indiatodayne.in/opinion/story/… Naorem Mohen Mar 01, 2026, Updated Mar 01, 2026, 2:38 PM IST Follow us: Google News The newly launched Thadou Pao Thodih (The Thadou Corrective Spoken Book) reinforces Thadou as a distinct and independent language belonging solely to the Thadou people, a recognized Scheduled Tribe with its own unique ethnic identity, long-recorded history, rich cultural heritage, and distinct traditions. The book explicitly treats Thadou as separate from any "Kuki" designation or umbrella grouping. By consistently prioritizing pure Thadou forms, avoiding hybrid nomenclature, presenting targeted comparative examples of its affinities with languages such as Mizo, Hmar, and Konyak, and refusing to subsume Thadou under broader labels, it actively counters misidentification and firmly affirms Thadou's standalone status within the Sino-Tibetan family of Tibeto-Burman. On February 27, 2026, this landmark publication was formally released by the Thadou Linguistic Forum (TLF) at NTS Hall in Motbung, Kangpokpi District, Manipur. The ceremony, officiated by Pu N. Shokhongam Baite, MCS, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Kangpokpi District as Chief Guest, marked a deliberate and scholarly advance in preserving and standardizing the Thadou language in its authentic spoken form. The book corrects common pronunciation and usage errors, promotes linguistic clarity, and, perhaps most importantly celebrates Thadou as the exclusive native tongue of the Thadou community, independent of any imposed or collective ethnic categorization. The event united community elders, local administrators, faith leaders, and supporters, demonstrating broad endorsement for efforts that protect Thadou’s linguistic integrity and ethnic sovereignty. Rev. Paothang, Education Secretary of the Thadou Baptist Association India (TBAI), opened the program with an invocation seeking blessings for the book’s reach and influence. Pu S.L. Kamkhohao, MPS, Additional Superintendent of Police, Kangpokpi, attended as Guest of Honour, while Pi Lhingtinneng Singsit, MES, served as Functional President. Generously sponsored by Pu Kaikhosei Lhouvum, Chief of Motbung Village and former Executive Member of the Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council (SH-ADC), the release highlighted deep grassroots and institutional commitment to this cause. Thadou is a Sino-Tibetan language in the Tibeto-Burman family. It is the primary language of the Thadou people, listed as an independent Scheduled Tribe under India’s constitutional framework since the 1956 Presidential Order. Thadou speakers are concentrated in the hill districts of Manipur, with communities also present in Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram, parts of Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh, and across the border in Myanmar’s Chin Hills and Sagaing Division. According to the 2011 Census of India, Thadou has approximately 229,000 speakers nationwide, with over 97% (around 223,000–229,000) in Manipur, where it forms the largest single tribal group among Scheduled Tribes and constitutes about 8.4% of the state's population. Some estimates up to 313,000 speakers including diaspora and Myanmar contexts, highlighting its demographic significance and vitality as a core ethnic marker for the Thadou community. For nearly 80 years, Thadou has been written in the Roman script, yet it continues to confront challenges like inconsistent spelling conventions, lexical variations across dialects, orthographic non-uniformity, and pronunciation discrepancies often arising from dialectal mixing, external linguistic influences, or lack of standardized resources. While folk poems, folktales, and occasional publications appear in community magazines, the oral literature of preliterate Tibeto-Burman communities, including those in the Kuki-Chin group remains insufficiently documented in terms of literary forms, narrative content, and linguistic intricacies. The newly released Thadou Corrective Spoken Book directly confronts these issues by offering practical guidance on correct usage and pronunciation of selected words and expressions. It promotes standardized spoken Thadou to minimize errors, enhance clarity in daily communication, support effective teaching in schools and homes, and ensure accurate intergenerational transmission. Crucially, the book prioritizes pure Thadou forms without incorporating hybrid elements or deferring to broader categorizations. It also explores linguistic affinities with related but distinct languages like Mizo, Hmar, and Konyak, highlighting shared Tibeto-Burman roots through comparative examples while firmly positioning Thadou as an independent entity within the family. This approach provides educational value for linguists and speakers alike, without subordinating Thadou to any overarching label. The book's release timing, mere weeks after the Thadou Inpi Manipur (TIM)'s February 2, 2026, memorandum amplifies its role in the broader struggle for identity recognition. TIM, the apex body representing the Thadou tribe, submitted a detailed memorandum to the Governor of Manipur, the Chief Secretary, and the Commissioner-cum-Secretary (SCERT), demanding a review and removal of the "Thadou-Kuki" nomenclature from school textbooks, curricula, and official materials, with restoration of "Thadou" alone. The memorandum outlined the factual and judicial background: The Gauhati High Court's landmark full bench judgment on January 6, 1993 (Civil Rule No. 320/1990 (Gauhati) and Civil Rule No. 295/1987 (Imphal)), addressed disputes stemming from earlier government orders (e.g., May 1987) recognizing "Thadou Kuki." Noting deep community sentiments and conflicting references, the court directed formation of an Expert Committee comprising scholars from the Anthropological Survey of India, North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), and Manipur University. Constituted on October 28, 1993, the committee submitted its report on February 3, 1995, affirming "Thadou" as the historically established name for over two centuries, while acknowledging sentiments favoring "Kuki."Despite this expert affirmation, the Government of Manipur, via State Cabinet decision on February 7, 1996, and Order No. 7/15/93-S/SCERT(HC) dated March 15, 1996, adopted "Thadou-Kuki" (with hyphen) as a political compromise to balance competing views. TIM contended that this hybrid term, though not court-mandated, functions as appeasement to certain groups rather than objective adherence to historical and linguistic reality. The grounds for objection includes reasons like the nomenclature fosters ethnic misidentification in multi-ethnic Manipur, conflating Thadou with a broader "Kuki" umbrella that does not reflect the tribe's distinct identity; it also links to problematic inclusions like "Any Kuki Tribes" (AKT) in the Scheduled Tribes list, enabling misclassification, exploitation, and security concerns. It also misrepresents Thadou history, culture, traditional governance, and heritage, effectively "painting over" unique elements with imposed labels in violation of constitutional protections under Articles 29 (cultural and educational rights) and 30 (minority institutions). More importantly, after May 3, 2023, Manipur violence, misidentification has worsened, with Thadou communities facing targeted attacks, displacement, and false portrayals as part of conflicting groups under generic "Kuki" labels, causing alienation and harm. In education, "Thadou-Kuki" confuses students from a young age, dilutes cultural pride, blurs tribal distinctions, and erodes linguistic integrity, harmful in a diverse state where clear identities promote harmony. The Thadou Inpi Manipur urged alignment with the Expert Committee's core findings, historical truth, and constitutional safeguards, requesting "Thadou" alone in all materials to prevent identity erosion and foster peace. This controversy traces to the 1960s, when proposals to rename the language "Kuki" for supposed unity, amid Naga Hills influences and efforts to benefit smaller communities faced strong opposition from Thadou leaders like V. Kipgen. Initiatives, including the Kuki Baptist Convention's 1960 resolution and publications like Muoltinchaan, collapsed due to Thadou resistance and limited support from other groups like Hmar, Paite, Vaiphei, and Simte. Similarly, in 2013, the Thadou Students' Association (Bangalore) protested mislabeling of a Thadou Bible translation as "Kuki Bible." Recent affirmations, including the Thadou Convention 2024 and TIM statements, reiterate that Thadou is a distinct ethnic group, not Kuki, underneath Kuki, or part of Kuki, but an independent entity with its own language, culture, and history. "Kuki" is viewed as a colonial construct or political ideology, not a unified indigenous ethnic identity in Manipur. Scholarly works too affirm Thadou's independence. For example, Lieutenant Stewart's 19th-century article, T.C. Hodson's Thado Grammar (1906), M.S. Thirumalai's Thadou Phonetic Reader (1971), Shree Kishan's grammatical sketch (1980), and native contributions like T.S. Gangte's The Structure of the Thadou Society. In this context, Thadou Pao Thodih empowers Thadou speakers by equipping them with tools for authentic expression, resisting dilution through misnomers, and instilling pride in a unique heritage. The Motbung event, uniting leaders, officials, and faith figures signals enduring commitment to linguistic purity, cultural preservation, and recognition of Thadou as a standalone language and people, advancing clarity, vitality, and ethnic justice amid Manipur's complex identity crisis. CONDOLENCE MESSAGE HONORING THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF PU VUNGZAGIN VALTE 22nd February, 2026 The Thadou Students’ Association (TSA) expresses its deepest sorrow and heartfelt condolences on the untimely demise of Vungzagin Valte on 21st February, 2026 in New Delhi after a prolonged illness resulting from the brutal attack and grievous injuries he sustained in May 4, 2023. Born in Mualnuam village, he served with distinction as a three-time Member of the Legislative Assembly from the 56–Thanlon Assembly Constituency (2012–2026) in Manipur, and as a Cabinet Minister from 2020 to 2022. Pu Valte dedicated his life to public service, steadfastly working for the welfare and upliftment of his people. Before entering politics, he served as a banker with the State Bank of India, reflecting his long-standing commitment to serving society with integrity and diligence. During a particularly challenging period in Thadou history in 2017, he stood firmly with the Thadou Students’ Association and attended our 60th Foundation Day (Diamond Jubilee) celebration at Taloulong Village on 29th October, 2017, as Guest of Honour, an act of solidarity that remains deeply cherished by our community. His gracious presence during that defining moment reflected his courage, conviction, and unwavering commitment to his people. His generous contribution to the Thadou cause and his consistent presence at Thadou functions till his last breath demonstrated his genuine friendship and steadfast support for our community. Though a leader from the Paite tribe, belonging to the Zomi community and serving as MLA of Thanlon, he carried himself with remarkable humility, remained accessible to all, and emerged as a mass leader for the people of Manipur beyond tribal and constituency boundaries. TSA honors his legacy of simplicity, courage, and inclusive leadership. We pray that the Almighty grants eternal peace to his soul and strength to his bereaved family. May his life and contributions continue to inspire generations to come. Sd/- (Thangminlun Thadou) Secretary General Thadou Students’ Association (TSA-GHQ)

TSA-GHQ seeks probe, FIR against three over alleged intimidation Source: The Sangai Express e-pao.net/GP.asp?src=28.… Imphal, February 21 2026: The Thadou Students' Association-General Headquarters (TSA-GHQ) has strongly condemned the criminal intimidation and misuse of Thadou identity by three individuals, and urged the Governments of Manipur and India to take immediate legal action. In a statement, TSA-GHQ alleged that Lamminlun Singsit, Lungoulen Guite and Kamchon Kipgen, who are said to be operating under the banner of "Thadou Inpi Sadar Hills" (TI-SH), issued coercive WhatsApp messages on February 17 and 20, 2026, to George L Thadou, the association's duly appointed TSA Sadar Hills President. The association termed the messages as harassment and intimidation. The organisation claimed that such actions amount to criminal intimidation and violation of constitutional rights guaranteed under Articles 14, 19 and 21 . It further alleged that the individuals are associated with the Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU), Kangpokpi, and accused them of promoting separatist demands for a "Kuki-Zo Union Territory", golirifying militants, and contributing to unrest in the district following the 2023 ethnic violence. TSA-GHQ asserted that it is the legitimate body representing Thadou identity and expressed concern over what it termed as attempts to misrepresent and dilute the distinct tribal identity of the community. The association stated that it stands for peace, education and constitutional harmony. Placing a series of demands before the authorities, TSA-GHQ called for immediate registration of FIRs and prosecution in connection with the alleged intimidation and electronic harassment. It also sought a thorough investigation into the alleged roles, separatist ties, funding sources and complicity in Kangpokpi violence, dismantling of entities allegedly misusing the Thadou name, and provision of security to TSA leaders amid reported threats. The association maintained that it would not bow to intimidation and appealed to the authorities to take appropriate steps to uphold law and order and ensure justice in the state.

After distinct Thadou identity, Paite-Zomi and Hmar came out to make peace and community understanding with Meitei. The real Kuki or Kuki-Zo will be identified soon! Peace is on the horizon. Lets Stop labelling everyone as Kuki or Kuki-Zo. @YKhemchandSingh

In a touching gesture of reconciliation amid ongoing tensions, a Paite-Zomi man reunited with his Meitei in-laws in Imphal, offering a rare moment of hope for peace in Manipur. Anthony Naulak from Churachandpur district visited his mother-in-law on February 21 after nearly three years of separation caused by the ethnic crisis that has strained ties between Meitei and Kuki-Zomi communities. Naulak, who is married to Okram Jaya of the Meitei community, travelled to the State capital to raise concerns about internally displaced persons (IDPs) with the government. Upon arriving from Delhi, he visited his wife’s home in Singjamei Chingamakha to seek blessings from his mother-in-law, Okram Rohini, marking an emotional reunion with family members he had not seen since the outbreak of violence in 2023.Speaking to the media, Naulak said his primary aim was to highlight the hardships faced by IDPs and push for urgent solutions through meetings with officials and legal interventions. Despite initial apprehension about travelling to Imphal, he expressed faith in the people of the city and emphasised that resolving IDP issues is key to restoring lasting peace. His mother-in-law expressed joy at the reunion, saying the crisis had painfully separated families like theirs and voicing hope for an early return to normalcy. The visit, though personal, has come to symbolise the possibility of rebuilding trust between communities divided by conflict. #Manipur #Imphal #PeaceAndReconciliation #IDPCrisis #HopeForPeace

TSA Vehemently Condemns Anti-National Pseudo-Thadou Leaders' Criminal Intimidation, Masquerade as Thadou to Propel Kuki Separatism, and Direct Involvement in Kangpokpi's Violent Mayhem – Demands Immediate Government Crackdown MEDIA RELEASE Imphal, the 21st February, 2026 The Thadou Students' Association - General Headquarters (TSA-GHQ), the sole legitimate guardian of Thadou identity and rights since 1957, fiercely denounces the brazen criminality of three notorious figures viz. Lamminlun Singsit (self-proclaimed President, Thadou Inpi Sadar Hills), Lungoulen Guite (bogus General Secretary), and Kamchon Kipgen (fraudulent Information Secretary), who operate under the sham banner of "Thadou Inpi Sadar Hills" (TI-SH). These imposters, devoid of any legal authority, issued coercive WhatsApp summons on February 17 and 20, 2026, to Mr. George L. Thadou, our duly appointed TSA Sadar Hills President, demanding his submission at their Kangpokpi lair. This vile electronic harassment constitutes outright criminal intimidation, conspiracy, and a savage assault on constitutional rights under Articles 14, 19, and 21—inflicting terror, mental anguish, and eroding Thadou autonomy. These culprits are core architects within the anti-nationals “Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU),” Kangpokpi, relentlessly advancing separatist demands for a "Kuki-Zo Union Territory," glorifying militants, issuing highway blockades, and fueling Manipur's chaos since the 2023 ethnic bloodshed.  Lately, they shamelessly masquerade as Thadou representatives to hijack and dilute our distinct tribal identity (recognized under 1956 President's Order), forcing it into their toxic Kuki supremacist and separatist vortex—eroding Thadou independence and dragging us into extremism. Alarmingly, all violent upheavals in Kangpokpi, from arson, shutdowns, and clashes to the 2023 violence's ripple effects, bear the fingerprints of these three key instigators, who orchestrate anti-peace disruptions under tribal pretexts, exacerbating divisions and undermining India's unity.  TSA-GHQ rejects their venomous agenda outright, standing firm for peace, education, and constitutional harmony—unlike their glorification of division and terror. We demand from the Governments of Manipur and India: 1. Instant FIR registration and ruthless prosecution for intimidation, harassment, and electronic abuse. 2. Deep probe into their CoTU roles, separatist ties, funding, and complicity in Kangpokpi violence. 3. Dismantling of their pseudo-entities misusing Thadou nomenclature for anti-national ends. 4. Urgent security for TSA leaders amid escalating threats. Thadous will not bow to intimidation or identity theft. Authorities must crush these separatist vipers to restore justice and national integrity in Manipur. MESSAGE Zomi – The Pillar of Manipur’s Unity Happy Zomi Namni to the vibrant Zomi community across Manipur and beyond! On this special day of Zomi Namni (February 20), a cherished celebration of unity and heritage pride for the Zomi tribes, the Thadou Students' Association (TSA) extends warm greetings and sincere felicitations. We appreciate the historic declaration of Zomi Namni as a restricted state holiday in Manipur in 2020 under then-Chief Minister @NBirenSingh. This important step recognized the rich contributions and distinct identity of Zomi tribes, creating a lasting milestone that promotes mutual respect. As fellow indigenous people of Manipur, the beautiful “Mini India” of unity in diversity, the Thadou community stands in solidarity with the Zomi people. Manipur’s true strength lies in truth, justice, mutual respect, coexistence, non-violence resolutions, and harmony among all ethnic groups: Meitei, Naga, Meitei-Pangal, Thadou, Zomi, Hmar, Mizo and others. We proudly remember leaders like TC Tiankham of the Paite tribe, Zomi community, the first Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly under the 1947 Manipur State Constitution Act. Such legacies highlight the deep role of tribal communities, including Zomi and Thadou, in shaping Manipur’s history. Let this Zomi Namni strengthen our shared resolve: to cherish our distinct tribal identities while proudly embracing our common Manipuri and Indian heritage. Through respect, empathy, and commitment to peace, we can build a more inclusive and harmonious Manipur for all. Wishing the Zomi people joy, prosperity, cultural pride, and lasting unity. Happy Zomi Namni! Sd/- (Thangminlun Thadou) Secretary General Thadou Students’ Association (TSA-GHQ)
