Happy Wednesday! Last week, our team joined @UNIDO & @C4CEC at the Coffee Research Institute in Ruiru for a deep dive into coffee waste management. By focusing on circularity, we’re opening new economic pathways for women and youth in the coffee value chain. #CircularEconomy

Happy Monday! It's inspiring to witness a shift in mindset among farmers, from seeing "fodder as a challenge" to embracing “I am managing fodder effectively.” The lush green farms are thriving, and the joy radiates as farmers successfully feed their cows with ease. #Community

This is a coffee seedling in Tenges, Baringo County, Kenya. Most people hear "Baringo" and think conflict. We see potential. Our @3eAfrica team is on the ground. Not assessing anymore. Planting. Nursery setup, seedling selection, agronomic planning with farmers who never gave up. That's not a charity case. That's a case for economic freedom. Not a concept note. A seedling in someone's hand. #Baringo #CoffeeFarming #Kenya #NotJustAid

We’re thrilled to start our first coffee project in Baringo, specifically in the Tenges area. This week, our team is on the ground finalizing the farm layout, drawing from our successful experiences in Subukia. We believe this initiative has great potential. #CoffeeFarming

I'm fully aware of the geopolitical and economic implications. The global economy was built on fossil fuels, and entire nations, alliances, and power structures depend on it. I don't pretend that's simple to untangle. But the question remains: should we keep poisoning ourselves and our children's future to protect economic interests that benefit the few at the cost of the many?

Sunday reflection. I grew up with Gulf crises. Every decade, same story. Oil prices spike, economies panic, people suffer, and the world holds its breath watching a 21-mile wide strait. This week, the Strait of Hormuz shut down again. Tankers stranded. Brent crude jumping 13%. Analysts warning about $100 oil. Global recession fears. The same script we've been reading for fifty years. And every single time, we act surprised. Since the 1970s, we have known what fossil fuels cost us. Not just economically, but socially, environmentally, geopolitically. We've known that building an entire global economy on a resource concentrated in the most volatile region on earth was a structural vulnerability, not just an energy choice. I know what the cynics will say. This is a war. People are dying. Real people, right now. And they're right. I am not minimizing that. But I am asking a question that I think deserves space: Can this be the last oil crisis? Not because wars will stop. But because we finally build energy systems that don't require a 21-mile strait to stay open for the world economy to function. The technology exists. Solar, wind, battery storage, green hydrogen, decentralized grids. What's been missing is urgency. Maybe this week provides it. Maybe the sight of 200 stranded tankers and $85 oil does what fifty years of climate reports could not. And it would do more than fix the climate. It would stop the resource wars that have shaped, and scarred, the last century. From where I sit in East Africa, the stakes are different. Kenya imports 100% of its petroleum. Every dollar added to oil means food gets more expensive, transport costs rise, and the communities I work with feel it first. This is not abstract. This is Monday morning at the market. The road to energy independence is the road to economic freedom. For Africa. For everyone. I hope this is the crisis that makes us finally act. Not next year. Now. #Energy #SundayReflection #OilCrisis #Sustainability #RenewableEnergy #ClimateAction #EnergyTransition #Africa #StraitOfHormuz

When farmers grasp that financial literacy isn't just about numbers but empowerment, they transform routine farming into profit. They are asking tough questions and embracing learning, it's all about resilience and growth! #FinancialLiteracy

Look for the smallest problem to solve that is a problem for as many people as possible. Costas Papaikonomou left innovation consulting to invest in the circular economy. Not sexy startups. White colorant. Paper pulp. Food packaging. His filter for deals? "Does this break the laws of physics?" You'd be surprised how many do. Full ep: first reply #Innovation #Sustainability #Investing
