There is no way you can sell if you don't consider what your customers actually want. A new bakery opened in my neighborhood. I was thrilled: as a German, I'm obsessed with good bread. They had great products. I became a regular customer. Every Saturday, I bought my weekend bread there. Then they started limiting what they stocked, probably because they weren't attracting enough customers. One Saturday, they didn't have what I wanted. 'Come back later,' they said. I came back. They still only had half my order. I stopped going. Instead of paying attention to the few loyal customers they had, they cut back their offering and lost even more customers. They had a chance. They didn't take it. Your content is the same: If you are not attracting the audience you want, doubling down on what your loyal readers need is the answer not cutting back and hoping for the best.

Stop trying to sound like an expert. Try sounding like a friend who genuinely cares. I know it feels counterintuitive when you are trying to build authority. But people don't want to listen to a know-it-all on a pedestal. They want someone who explains things clearly, simply, and actually cares that they understand. My email open rates doubled when I stopped writing like a neutral expert and started sharing personal stories. Not because my advice got better - but because it felt like it came from a real person. When you write like you are talking to a friend over coffee, people lean in. They trust you more. They remember you. And they come back. Next time you create content, ask yourself: 'Would I say it like this to a friend?' If not - rewrite it.
