"If I could only burn this thing out of me!” she cried. “I didn’t want to be different. [...] I wanted to be able to laugh,” she whispered. Tears slid down her cheeks. “But I’m sister to an Emperor who’s worshipped as a god. People fear me. I never wanted to be feared.” He wiped the tears from her face. “I don’t want to be part of history,” she whispered. “I just want to be loved … and to love.” “You are loved,” he said.

@TSoS_ Im sorry but from where is that last pic?? And recently i read that chapter you recall in messiah, and is so foretelling! It predicts every part of the very book ending except for leto, another foretelling aspect because of that thing abt not seeing other oracle’s amazing chapter

@TSoS_ @shivathecrow No. And considering she was the official historian for Paul, she narrated almost every chapter break. You should know more about her?

"Everywhere we turn", Irulan said, "his power confronts us. He's the kwisatz haderach, the one who can be many places at once. He's the Mahdi whose merest whim is absolute command to his Qizarate missionaries. He's the mentat whose computational mind surpasses the greatest ancient computers. He is Muad'dib whose orders to the Fremen legions depopulate planets. He possesses oracular vision which sees into the future. He has that gene pattern which we Bene Gesserits covet for." - Irulan on Muad'dib

@matpolloy I believe there's a good chance this happens once the Empire arrives and tries to take over, but if it doesn't, that would really drag the show down for me as a whole

@TSoS_ Same fears on Lawson. Obviously one of the most beautiful animated projects Star Wars has released but I really need that cop storyline to be more layered bc it feels a little pre-2020 cop show esk.

Maul: Shadow Lord is the most cinematic and beautiful series in the long history of animated Star Wars stories. With great action and an incredible, blade runneresque tech noir aesthetic, the show is a visual feast, but never feels like it lacks substance. Taking a lot of time to show us the personal side of every character's story and build its world, it manages to make you care about its central conflict in a way I didn't expect. Though kids will absolutely love it simply because Maul, the Zabraks and Mandalorians are awesome, this feels like a grown-up story; stream-lined, character-focused and not without its darker aspects. Though the exposition is heavy and clunky at times, with Maul suffering most from having to deliver things the audience already knows, the first two episodes have an instant hook. Devon Izara is certainly not the first Order 66 survivor we have seen, but despite the ever increasing number of them, her dilemma is intriguing and her relationship with Maul as the driving force of this show seems very promising. Jedi Master Eeko-Dio Daki will inevitably bite the dust, but not without making a great impression first. Overall, my biggest fear is that Brander Lawson - a character I really like so far - is going to get stuck in a very pro-cop storyline. I hope as the Empire and Maul's Syndicate squeeze Janix harder and harder, the law enforcement storyline becomes more layered. Overall, this is a very promising start! Animated Star Wars just hits different!

@TSoS_ @millihag It always felt a bit too much for me, like Herbert was afraid his readers forgot about the previous book so he just had to give you a last episode rundown - I get the intention but this, and book 3's Stilgar equivalent never felt natural, might as well focus on new info

@millihag Yep. It's really funny because those first three chapters are full of exposition to remind you what happened in the first book and Mohiam cutting Irulan off makes it feel very self-aware.

Started my third annual re-read of Dune: Messiah and it's crazy how dense and brilliant this book is. Maybe it's because of Dune: Part Three's release on the horizon, but I have never felt more captivated by its story.
