I love Smite. It’ll always be my comfort game. I used to play all the time, and honestly I’d be lying if I said that the misogyny and harassment in my games wasn’t a huge reason I don’t play consistently anymore. I’ve genuinely cried over some of the things said to me in my Smite games. You can call me soft, sensitive, whatever. I’ve been told some vile things in team chat, and no one deserves to be treated that way for simply playing a game. “You couldn’t handle cod game chat lobbies” yes I could, and I have. I haven’t heard things nearly half as bad in those lobbies as some of the Smite lobbies I’ve been in. At least 90% of those misogynistic comments on CoD are the unoriginal, stereotypical ones. “Make me a sandwich” or “get back in the kitchen” meanwhile I’ve had people on my own team in Smite say they’re going to r@pe and/or k1ll me for being on their TEAM. Sometimes you just want to come home from a bad day and relax on your favorite game, not be harassed by your own teammates for doing nothing but existing in their presence. I don’t know what needs to be done to fix this, but I do know this needs to be a group effort. Like Tempest said, if you see something SAY SOMETHING. We’re tired.

Toxicity in SMITE for men is bad because toxicity in SMITE for everyone is bad. Toxicity in SMITE is worse for women for the same reason its worse for LGBT, POC, and plenty of others - they get all that base game sewage PLUS the extra garbage hate DLC. This is incredibly obvious.

everyone who plays an online game regardless of their gender will receive hate or harassment. what I don’t understand is when it’s a woman why are we using gender based / sexual insults towards them? why when someone sticks up for woman they are automatically a simp?

I have been a smite streamer for 5 years now and I've always met great people. I don't get harrassed, I don't get abused, I don't feel pressure from anyone and I am sick and tired of people telling me "good for you, you are lucky".
