After 12+ years, the original Xbox One has been hacked via a hardware voltage glitching attack on its boot ROM.
Security researcher Markus Gaasedelen presented the exploit at RE//verse 2026.

Damn, this would be great for accessibility reasons. Also, if all three banjo games come to PC, that would probably be the fastest versions of each game.
It would be so easy to make practice tools for them too (unless there's some DRM shit). Definitely excited about this.

I think I'll only see myself doing No FFM categories in the future for N64 speedruns.
Personally, it feels like the standard way to play the game, and I'm not a fan of running on unofficial versions of the game.

It was decided today by the Banjo-Kazooie speedrunning community to make the "Instant FFM" ROM Hack legal for speedruns.
While I disagree with this decision, I will support everyone who wishes to do runs on it, wholeheartedly. ❤️

@MitchTwitrKD They have the source code still, evident from the XBLA ports of both Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie. We're still not sure if it's emulated or not, since I've heard they use Mupen for some of their N64 emulation for other games.
I guess we'll find out when it releases lol.

@evercaderetro @RareLtd Will the L Button from the original version be bound on the super pocket? It's necessary to skip most of the game's text and the previous Xbox port forgot to do this. Also, preordered.

FINALLY GOT THE WORLD RECORD!
i've been trying for months and many sick attempts died at the endgame.
Any% restricted (previously any% no RBA) was actually the first category i ran when i started BK speedrun almost 10 YEARS AGO with a 2:16 lol.
i'll improve tho, 1:12 is doable!

@NotCarlsche That only happens when your level id is updated (in this case going from Lair to Spiral) or if you're less than or equal to 2 health. So it doesn't happen all the time.

@TSRStormed Could you also add a toggle so the lives and health bar dont appear when entering a door? That'll make it seem more like a seamless transition. Once that happens then its perfect.
