Current mechanisms for assessing value of & payment for costly new drugs have led to limited access for patients. @TShealthpolicy et al argue for increased collaboration internationally and with patients in drug assessment bmj.com/content/391/bm… @WHO @helse_og_omsorg

At the 20th Shanghai Forum, I spoke about how the WHO European Region is transforming health systems through digitalization & AI — and how we can partner with China 🇨🇳 to go even further, together. There is strong momentum in our Region to harness digital health and #AI. I firmly believe that working together with partners, including China, can significantly accelerate our progress. There are several promising areas for our collaboration with China. 🔹By leveraging AI, we can expand access to health care and improve its quality. 🔹By integrating AI into health education, we can equip future health professionals with the skills to apply AI tools and meet evolving needs. 🔹By establishing interregional pilot initiatives, we can test AI applications in real-world #health settings. Our partnership with #China in long-term and primary health care already demonstrates the power of shared learning. We can build on this foundation – using digitalization and AI to strengthen our health systems and improve lives across borders. #HealthForAll

After 1.5 years it was very fulfilling to see the hard work being brought to life this past week and see the ideas of the #WHONMP stakeholders that have the potential to change the status quo and improve access to patients. Looking forward to implementing @WHO_Europe

When @WHO_Europe first proposed bringing together governments, pharma & civil society to find ways to make novel medicines more affordable, many warned of possible pitfalls. Today our Novel Medicines Platform is a reality, convening key dialogue to strengthen #HealthForAll. 1/

Transparency, innovation, commitment. The pillars underpinning the Novel Medicines Platform dialogue at @WHO_Europe. The NMP is precisely the policy lab we need to increase access to novel medicines, including those for rare diseases. 4/
