2:20 PM - Locally heavy rainfall has affected parts of western Trinidad and hilly areas, leading to short-lived street flooding. Expect traffic delays in flooded areas, where water will quickly run off after rainfall subsides. #street-urban-flooding" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">ttweathercenter.com/flood-types/#s

Over the last 48 hours, T&T has recorded between ½ and 2.5 times the average April rainfall, but with very dry soils over the past few weeks, minimal flooding occurred, with some reports of street flooding in Freeport and various areas of northeastern Trinidad. Wind gusts generally remained below severe levels across the country, which was accompanied by moderate to heavy rainfall. While the heaviest rainfall is behind us, isolated showers and the odd thunderstorm are possible on Monday, with heavier activity favoring southern Trinidad. What may look like our usual geostationary full disk image of the Atlantic is actually a nighttime, long-exposure photo taken from the recently launched Orion spacecraft on the Artemis II Mission. When this photo was taken by @NASA astronaut and Artemis II Commander Reid Wiseman on April 2nd, 2026, the Earth was being illuminated by the Moon! Because this photo was taken at night, you can see the light from cities across southern Europe, northern Africa, South America, and even the Caribbean. These two images were taken by @astro_reid only minutes apart. The stark difference is the result of camera settings. In the first, a longer shutter speed let in much more light from Earth, while the shorter shutter speed in the second emphasizes our planet's nighttime glow.
