Arjun from Bangalore: managed summer perfectly. Skipped pre-monsoon audit "because it went so well." First rain: 62mm. 4 containers in saucers, drainage >100 sec. All 4 lost to Pythium in 48 hours. 4 terracotta containers on bricks: all survived.

The 10-day soil reset: Day 1: ferrous sulphate + citric acid pH correction | Day 2: salt flush | Day 3: H2O2 preventive drench (3ml/L, 300ml per container) | Day 4: Trichoderma biofungicide | Day 7: vermicompost + neem cake | Day 10: 30mm coir mulch. Cost: Rs 360-550 for all

The 5 pre-monsoon audits (complete 2 weeks before monsoon): 1. 500ml drainage test — action above 90 sec | 2. Drainage hole inspection + clearing | 3. Saucer removal + brick elevation (3-5cm minimum) | 4. Soil surface check (white crust? hydrophobic?) | 5. Root health spot-check

The monsoon risk: summer soil is at 32-40°C when first rain arrives. Pythium zoospore release at 38°C = 4-6× higher than at 20°C. Hot soil + sudden anaerobic waterlogging =48-hour crisis window. Every container without adequate drainage in first rain becomes a Pythium activation

June crop triage: Ridge gourd + bitter gourd = keep, they were made for this. Curry leaf + chilli =keep. Tomato with developing fruit=maintain through harvest. Tomato with no fruit in 21 days + 40°C sustained = remove, refresh container, prepare for monsoon. This is not failure

Heat wave (3+ days above 44°C) emergency: night before = deep pre-load watering | 5 AM start | wet jute cloth on south/west faces | move 3 most vulnerable containers north | harvest everything at 60% maturity | group containers rim-to-rim | post-event = seaweed drench + 7-10 day

The June-July daily rhythm (total 20-30 min): 5:30 AM: deep watering | 6 AM: inspection + pollination | 11 AM: soil temp check (threshold 38°C = emergency) | 12:30 PM: observe — do NOT water wilting in wet soil | 5:30 PM: recovery check. Plus: every other Sunday= seaweed extract

3 mechanisms build up silently: ROS accumulate faster than antioxidants neutralise when nights stay above 30°C | Soil microbes die above 32°C sustained | Guard cells fatigue =stomata stay open at night = constant water loss All visible 7-14 days AFTER damage threshold is crossed.

The June wall in Indian container gardens — plants declining despite correct inputs — isn't deficiency or disease. It's accumulated cellular stress from sustained extreme heat. Here's the daily protocol that keeps containers productive through June and July ??

5 systems change simultaneously in Indian April: Soil temp crosses 32°C (root stress) | Water demand doubles | Spider mite generation: 20 days ? 5 days | pH drift rate doubles | Pollen window: all day ? 6-10 AM only. Each one hits a different threshold. Each one responds to fix.
