@TeacherToolkit A useful mantra to underpin understanding and support for young people with ADHD: Think brain not behaviour. Too many behaviour related stereotypes to inform a useful starting point.

8 years ago, I left children's safeguarding and a 25-year career working with some of the most vulnerable children imaginable. I always find it interesting how those experiences often have little value in academia.

@Doctob And particularly about the use of single research papers to justify one's position and accompany this with claims of evidence based practice. Particularly when the single cited paper has the research design integrity of a house of straw.

We must be careful about sanctifying research as absolute truth. We must also be careful about interpretations of research that are driven by confirmation bias.

@StephenVainker @paulkhammond What is a scholar? I don't know anyone who if asked would say "I'm a scholar". Some less abstract examples might help young people with their aspirations.

@paulkhammond Absolutely. Feeling capable is very important and schools should develop this. Seeing yourself as a scholar is a very narrow version of that, that fits in with a particular (and I would say, in some respects, potentially limiting) form of education that TB just happens to favour.

Combating Andrew Tate by encouraging boys to see themselves as scholars and musicians is far far more delusional than any prog stuff Bennett makes fun of. The answer is NOT always pressing kids to achieve more. There's more to life!

Mention of teachers leaving profession on @BBCr4today, in interview with Bridget Phillipson. Retention rates are lower within large academy chains, as revealed in my recent research for @CASEupdate and by Ed Policy Institute. But policymakers seem uncurious about this.

@DrHannahLunch Sorry to hear of your experience Hannah. It is utterly depressing that some medical professionals appear to reiterate tired ADHD tropes and stereotypes with no consideration as to their impact. It's not good enough.

I’ve just had….. an absolutely horrible GP experience as a patient. Literally fast walked out of there crying because I felt so dismissed and invalidated and then sobbed in my car for half an hour 🥲🥲

I'd hoped we'd seen the end of this sort of missive using populist no nonsense language. It lacks the kind of nuance one might have hoped would indicate a more considered, collaborative and brand ranging approach to addressing a complex issue.

@GillianKeegan @Conservatives I would conclude that the dedication and professional expertise of school leaders, teachers and staff working those schools was the more significant factor in that improvement journey. It is telling you choose to prioritise crediting yourselves with that improvement.

In 2010 under Labour, only 63% of schools in York Central were rated good or outstanding. Now, that number is 97%. That's what the @Conservatives deliver. #BBCQT

@TVodden Wow! It sounds absolutely overwhelming! Have you found any ways of getting through when you hit dead ends? Knowing how long coding/familiarisation has taken is really helpful- I’m due to launch a large prospective study later in the year so trying to fit together the time puzzle!

So, as a newbie to #ThematicAnalysis, roughly how long will coding & analysis take for 15 hour-long interviews? Trying to update my #PhD #GanttChart & want to factor in sufficient time for analysis. Only ever undertaken quants research before so…all new 🤯. #QualResearch #ECR
