1) What a wonderful day of wildlife watching near Plymouth. To learn why the incredible bluefin tuna have migrated to UK seas and also much more, read this thread. It is vital to understand the reason for their recent appearance. See 2

It took me SEVEN years to figure out that you can save a ggplot as a vectorized .svg file ggsave("file.svg"). The svg file can be opened on powerpoint and it will be completely vectorized, even text are still recognized as text boxes! No more recreating plots on illustrator!!!!!

Boost Plankton on X. RT to help me reach more than 12,975 people. Everyone should know about , care about, and enjoy the plankton and especially, now the tiny creatures are in hot water with record-breaking sea surface temperatures every day from May 2023-May 2024. @zeiss_micro

But what blew me away was the level of personal anguish among the experts who have dedicated their lives to climate research. Many used words like hopeless, broken, infuriated, scared, overwhelmed. Read their words here: 5/n theguardian.com/environment/ng…

How do scaling laws at the single-cell level give rise to macroecological patterns? We show that in plankton, power laws of nutrient uptake and grazing shape eco-evolutionary dynamics to produce scaling relationships at the ecosystem level. 🌊 science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

This is mind-blowingly bad. Most up-to-date study on Atlantic Ocean currents system shows signals of collapse. This could happen in 2025-2095 with 95% probability. Land to grow wheat may drop by half. Winter temperatures in North Europe could drop between 10 and 30 °C. 1/🧵

New study: the Atlantic overturning circulation AMOC “is on tipping course”. The paper by Dutch colleagues adds more weight to recent warnings, such as the OECD Climate Tipping Points report of 2022 and the Global Tipping Points report published 2023. realclimate.org/index.php/arch…

We are in the -omics times but, WHICH ONE IS BEST, Transcriptomics or Proteomics? Do they say the same from the same experiment? After this #NSFfunded project, we say that not always! We traced the diel cycle metabolism of DVM plankton, read for details! onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/me…

We usually consider size (allometry) as the main driver for plankton role in carbon export, but we show that zooplankton TRANSPARENCY is actually more correlated to C export @BatsBermuda, likely linked to dark migrators vs clear attenuators! #NSFfunded doi.org/10.1111/1755-0…
