I see that antisemitic conspiracy theorists are using this tweet from 2019 as “proof” for their absurd blood libels against Jews and Israel. This is absurd. This is the original 2019 tweet, and I explained exactly why I posted it in the thread. The tweet was intended to highlight the irony of Spain criticizing Israel’s presence in Judea and Samaria (the West Bank) and calling to “Free Palestine,” even though this region is the ancestral homeland of the Jewish people. It is filled with Jewish archaeological sites dating back thousands of years, makes up nearly half of Israel’s territory, lies only a few miles from Tel Aviv, and includes Jerusalem, Israel’s capital. At the same time, Spain still controls two enclaves in Morocco, on the African continent, across the Mediterranean. Yet Spain has no intention of giving up those territories, even though they are not essential to Spain’s security or survival, nor are they the cradle of the Spanish nation in the way that Judea and Samaria are for the Jewish people. So why does Spain preach to Israel about giving up Judea and Samaria while funding radical NGOs in Israel that advocate for Israel’s withdrawal from the area? The point of the tweet was to expose the irony, hypocrisy, and audacity of Spain’s demands of Israel. It was also meant to highlight the hypocrisy of the Arab Muslim obsession with the “Muslim land” of “Palestine,” while largely ignoring Spain’s continued control of territories on the African continent that were historically under Muslim rule.
