The Pentagon is asking for $200 billion MORE of our taxpayer dollars to fund their illegal war on Iran. That is enough money to fund free school lunch for every K-12 student in the U.S — for multiple years. When asked about this wasteful spending, Pete Hegseth said, “Obviously, it takes money to kill bad guys.” Hegseth is talking like he’s playing a video game. Enough with the callousness and dehumanization. This war is killing schoolchildren, civilians, and U.S. service members. I’m running for U.S. Senate on a platform to end this capitalist system that is addicted to war. We have the means to fund the people’s needs, not the war machine — we just need the political power.

Breaking News: The Pentagon asked the White House for $200 billion to fund the war in Iran, according to two officials with knowledge of the matter. The sum is nearly a quarter of the entire U.S. annual defense budget. nyti.ms/4tfRhuP

It's confirmed: the United States military fired the missile that killed 175 people — mostly little girls — inside of an elementary school school in Iran on February 28. This act of mass murder exposes everything we need to know about Trump's war. Our government is spending billions of taxpayer dollars every DAY of this war to kill children in Iran rather than using that money to ensure that our children here can live healthy lives, attend well-funded schools, and look forward to bright futures. We need to keep building a mass anti-war movement for the sake of all children.
The New York Times@nytimes

Breaking News: The U.S. was responsible for a missile strike on an Iranian school, an ongoing military investigation found. The inquiry said the strike — which Iranian officials said killed at least 175 people — was the result of a targeting mistake. nyti.ms/47G2uw2

In Massachusetts, the price of gas has gone up by 13% in one week because of Trump's illegal and unprovoked war against Iran. Our state already has one of the highest costs of living in the country, and the majority of residents reported living paycheck to paycheck BEFORE Trump’s war. It couldn’t be clearer that this murderous war, funded with our tax dollars, harms the people of Iran AND the people of the US. Stop the war on Iran! Money for people’s needs, not the war machine!

Trump is out here openly condemning a whole country to death. This is shocking, not because Trump is the first president to attempt to strangle the Cuban economy or to wage an endless war, but because there is so little attempt at a cover-up. Their goal to have complete control of the entire globe is on full display. Just this week, we have seen Trump and others in his administration bragging about murdering people in Iran, Cuba, and Venezuela. Trump is becoming more emboldened by the day. Building a movement in the millions is the only way to stop him in his tracks. It’s moments like this that show what’s at stake: will we have a world based on global solidarity and cooperation, or domination?
Aaron Rupar@atrupar

Trump: "Cuba is in its last moments of life ... but our focus right now is on Iran. Marco will take one hour off and finish up a deal on Cuba. That'll be an easy one."

ICE has killed another one of our neighbors.  Emmanuel Clifford Damas, a Haitian community member and asylum-seeker in Boston, was kidnapped by ICE in September.  The conditions in the detention center were so horrific that Emmanuel’s tooth became infected and he was refused treatment until he developed sepsis. He passed away on Monday. Our brother is dead because ICE denied him a simple course of antibiotics.  Emmanuel was a victim of the racist attacks on the Haitian community being waged by the Trump Administration. He was a victim of a capitalist system that seeks to divide and terrorize us in order to exploit us.  Justice for Emmanuel. Abolish ICE. Amnesty for all immigrants.

The Trump Administration is deliberately creating a humanitarian crisis in Cuba. Following the Executive Order that Trump signed last month, threatening to punish any country that sends oil to the island nation, it has become almost impossible for Cubans to access fuel. This has led to rolling blackouts and fuel shortages affecting all aspects of society, including hospitals and schools. Trump's mafioso tactics are designed to intensify the suffering of the Cuban people for their crime of being a sovereign nation in what the US views as its "backyard." Any policy that deliberately seeks to harm children, the sick, and the elderly is a crime against humanity. I stand with the Cuban people and demand an end to this racist and cruel blockade!

I've seen a lot of people saying that Stephen A. Smith sounds more like a Republican than a Democrat. But demonizing immigrants, providing cover for police brutality, and opposing taxes on the rich have been cornerstones of Democratic Party policy my entire life. It is a party run by billionaire interests. If you are rightfully upset by Stephen's blasphemous (as he would say) viewpoints, I think maybe it's because you're not a Democrat — maybe you're a socialist!
Dov Kleiman@NFL_DovKleiman

𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚: Stephen A. Smith says there wouldn't be a border crisis if he were President of the United States. "We wouldn’t have a border crisis under my watch. We ain’t defunding any police… There’s gon’ be more." Smith will likely run for office in the 2028 election.

Trayvon Martin and I were born in the same year. We were both juniors in high school when he was killed. Hearing the story of his murder at the hands of a racist vigilante and seeing him demonized by the media left a deep impact on me. It is one of the reasons why I am a socialist fighting for a whole new system. Racist violence is baked into the capitalist system — the rich have used racism as a tool to exploit Black and Brown people, and to keep us all divided and powerless. We are strongest when we fight injustice together. Today's multiracial movement against ICE terror is proof of that. For Trayvon, for all victims of racist violence, I commit myself to the struggle for justice until we win.

Trump is removing Nazi cosplayer and Border Patrol commander Gregory Bovino from Minneapolis. His hand was obviously forced because the people of Minnesota have mobilized so strongly against ICE terror, and have inspired a growing national fight back. This is a victory for our movement, and Trump is on his back foot. But this is not the end of ICE's war against our people. In fact, this week the Senate is debating whether to give ICE an additional $10 billion. Now is not the time to slow down. We need to turn up the pressure on Trump and the Senate to make it clear where the majority stands. I'll be joining people in the streets across the country on January 30th to say hands off Minnesota, and don't fund ICE — abolish it!

Immigration agents have committed yet another murder in Minneapolis, killing Alex Pretti while he was completely restrained. As their reign of terror expands, so must our movement against it. Yesterday, we saw the people of Minnesota rise up with a general strike in protest of ICE brutality and Trump’s racist right wing agenda. Tonight, people in dozens of cities, including my city of Boston, will take to the streets demanding justice for Alex and an end to ICE terror nationwide.  The time is now to expand the general strike — to show we are more powerful than them.

I stand with the thousands of people who took to the streets last night across the country, including in my city of Boston, demanding justice for Renee Nicole Good. Renee was murdered by an ICE agent in Minneapolis, just a few blocks away from where George Floyd was murdered by police almost 6 years ago.  Kristi Noem and others in the Trump Administration are calling her a domestic terrorist. But we know who the real terrorists are—the masked murderers who have killed our community members Jaime in Ventura County, Silverio in Chicago, and now Renee in Minneapolis. This is what happens when a federal agency is mobilized around hate and misinformation and is given a free pass to be as violent as they want. It's a threat to ALL of our rights. That is why we will be back in the streets today, shoulder to shoulder, demanding justice for Renee and an end to ICE terror!

Stephen Miller and the rest of the racists in the Trump Administration are trying to take us back to the type of cowboy colonialism of the 1820s, when the original Monroe Doctrine named Latin America as the ‘backyard’ of the United States. They will not succeed. It is clear to working people all across the country that Miller, Trump, and the rest of them are solely looking to enrich themselves and their billionaire friends. The world has changed since the days of the Monroe Doctrine. People are sick of racism and billionaires' wars. The capitalist system just can't accept that, and this is why we're organizing for a new system. Saturday saw over 100 demonstrations in cities around the United States condemning the attacks on Venezuela, including three in my state of Massachusetts alone. This is only the beginning.
Drop Site@DropSiteNews

⭕️ In a CNN interview with Jake Tapper, White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller argues that past U.S. interventions (coups and regime-change efforts) had been too altruistic: “For years the United States has been sending military to the Middle East to die in deserts to build them parliaments. To try to build them democracies. To try to get them more oil.” Under Trump, Miller says, that will not be the case. In a broad defense of U.S. military power and imperialism, he added: “The future of the free world depends on America to be able to assert ourselves and our interests without an apology,” linking that idea to a post-World War II period when, in his telling, the West began “apologizing and grovelling and begging.” PS: “Nation-building” was never the goal in the U.S. interventions he cites. In the Middle East, U.S. dismantled states (Iraq, Libya), empowered militias and warlords (Afghanistan), and then exited when costs rose.

I condemn the Trump Administration’s cowardly attacks on Venezuela. Trump has been open about his intention to take control of Venezuela’s resources, and he is clearly willing to lie, kill, and break any law to achieve that goal. Working people in Massachusetts and the entire U.S. oppose another forever war for oil. It's up to us to build a movement to stop it. No one believes Donald Trump cares about anyone’s safety, Christian or otherwise. Yesterday the Trump Administration bombed Nigeria under the false pretext of fighting a “genocide” on the country’s Christian population. In reality, it’s another case of the U.S. violating the sovereignty of a nation that is rich in resources and is strategically located in a region the U.S. wants to control. I stand firmly against the U.S. attacks on Nigeria and against the U.S. war drive everywhere. Our country’s wealth should be used to meet people’s needs, and our relationships with the rest of the world should be based on solidarity, not domination!

Remember Iraq: no more wars based on lies! The U.S. is spreading dangerous lies to justify its war crimes against Venezuela and continued escalation toward a new war in the Caribbean. But we remember the “weapons of mass destruction” lie, and we remember the more than one million lives lost in the Middle East because of it. Stand on the right side of history — reject a new U.S. war on Venezuela!

"You don't see rents like that in Boston anymore." We're fighting to change that! This is IN THESE STREETS, a series chronicling the stories of Massachusetts with the people who know these streets the best. For the first episode, I took a drive with my longtime comrade Naph reflecting on our time spent living and organizing in Dorchester and Roxbury.

Trump gave an ‘address’ to the nation last night that was really just a desperate attempt to deny what we all know — that the economy is in trouble. Here’s what I think the new jobs report tells us and what my vision is for how we could re-structure our society to actually serve our needs.
