This “play”/“move”/“skill” happened in 1989. No doubt there was an exploratory phase for Troy at training or at home. The stabilising in training or maybe games. To exploiting at highest level on big day. It took years to re-emerge in the game but is quite common now. But the next Troy flick won’t be coached. It will emerge from exploration.
