The recovered tag popped up near Cape Verde in November 2012 and was found on a beach EIGHT years later in the Bahamas allowing us to download the archived time-series data. (2/2)

Happy Sharktober 🦈 The team is a week in to the start of the white shark season in California. So far we have deployed nine tags and collected two biopsy samples. We also collect fin IDs such as this one that allow us to uniquely identify individuals (just like a fingerprint)!

Great detection by a BRUV deployment! Bluefin tuna swimming close to the mighty tuna trap of #Favignana. Once, many of these fish would have been intercepted by the historic fishery. #wsc21 @AmpEgadi

Tag a giant joins our Spanish great Tuna Race team and voila. Tagging in the Med commences. Thanks to Pablo Cermeno and Robbie Schallert and Club sport fishers in Spain. Twenty five years of tagging giants continues. Despite all the challenges.

How are elasmobranchs distributed vertically? @DrSammyShark and I are compiling available tag data to find out! We currently have data from >400 tags across 24 species, thanks to generous contributors. Have data that could contribute? Please get in touch #VerticalSharks

DYK: Bluefin are the largest tunas and can live up to 40 years. They migrate across all oceans and can dive deeper than 3,000 feet! Beautiful creatures too! These pendants help to support @TagAGiant brookekanani.com/tag

I don’t think there’s many of us here at #EEA2019 who haven’t referenced Block et al, at some point in their respective research. What a legend and an absolute privilege to have her talking to us today!
