Lol doing what is ethically right in academia is almost as rare as the illusive unicorn. We all should be supporting Jairo and others in his position but academia is filled to the brim with cowards and careerists.

I received over 90% of the votes at the department and college levels, yet the provost denied me tenure. I met and exceeded the promotion and tenure guidelines and expectations as well as my annual and mid-tenure reviews.

I missed the activist scholarship discourse so Im unsure what it’s referring to but the fact of the matter is that there are many academics pretending to be radicals. They reduce material struggle to symbolic gestures & aesthetics, while refusing to speak up when it’s most urgent

if I was the incumbent governor of Minnesota and I had already declared I would not be running for re-election, I would burn every resource at my disposal to protect my citizens from being murdered by the federal government.

This morning, our office heard from community members about this outrageous show of force and arrest of a US citizen for no apparent reason. We immediately engaged ICE to determine her whereabouts and ask when she would be released. We're relieved that she was released shortly before noon. ICE should never arrest US citizens for practicing their constitutional right to observe law enforcement activity. It is astonishing that this needs to be said. If you are a US citizen planning to peacefully observe ICE, make sure your family or friends have a copy of your passport or proof of citizenship. Fill out the ICE privacy waiver and have it on hand. If you are our constituent and are detained, your family or friends can contact my office, and we will follow up with ICE.

Black/Queen are not pronouns btw. In a time when our trans, nonbinary, gender fluid, and gender nonconforming neighbors are having their right to exist attacked, the bare minimum I expect from an elected DNC member and DFL party leader is appropriate use of pronouns.
