A friend asked me during a tete-a-tete at my residence today how I made my first ₦1 million…🤞 If I am to be honest, the question really made me reflect and flash back to when I used to write very well. It was one Hajia from Oyo State who recommended me to a man from Ondo State, specifically Ore. I did not know the man was into the cocoa business. He wanted someone to write the story of an obnoxious incident that had happened to him. Hajia Ameenah connected us directly without any intermediary. I explained to the man that the story would take me about a week and that I would need to stay in Ore. Without hesitation, he agreed. I charged him ₦500k that year. He did not negotiate the price; he agreed immediately and asked for my account details. He transferred the ₦500k the same day. The following day, he told me to check the price of a chartered vehicle from any transport company in Ilorin because, according to him, my safety mattered most. Back then, the price was around ₦45k for the chartered vehicle with full AC. The man sent ₦100k to my account, saying I might want to buy something while in transit. I did not overly appreciate him because I was simply doing my business, and the woman who recommended me already knew my capacity. While speaking on the phone, the man thought I was married and had children at home, which was why he made extra payment so I could settle things at home. At that time, I was in a serious relationship which I thought would lead to marriage, but thank God, we both separated peacefully. When I got to Ore, the man booked one of the most standard hotels for me, Adolak Hotel. He had already paid for anything I might need, instructing the manager to treat me well because I was a big man from Kwara State. When I arrived in Ore with the chartered Siena, the manager came to pick me up with a Hilux and a police officer, saying, “Oga has said a lot about you.” I could not proceed anywhere else that day; I needed to shower and rest. The next day, one of the staff knocked on my door asking what I would like for breakfast. I told her what I usually take in the morning. Before I knew it, a police officer had arrived at the reception telling me he had been assigned to me for one week of duty. I was so surprised. The man was not in town, but I embarked on the assignment. When I finished it, he was very impressed, saying it was the most perfect story so far. Before I got back to the hotel, I received a credit alert of ₦250k from the same man, even though I was not expecting any money at that moment. When I completed the assignment, I returned to Ilorin with plenty of gifts like palm oil, yam, groundnut oil, agbado, and many other packages from his friends. They appreciated how a young guy like me could deliver such a wonderful assignment within a short time. If the man is on X, I believe this story will reach him someday. Thank you all.
