I didn’t think Deschamps would do this. Normally he rewards good performances with continued starts. Pleasantly surprised. Barcola will need to be sharp and on it defensively, but if he can do that, i feel confident. Gives the attack far more spacing. Olise takes the ball, rely on Barcola Mbappe Dembele to spring the trap and him to feed the ball. Also added bonus of Barcola being so fast, can give some pause to Porro going on the overlap. Now more than even yesterday, when it looked like Doue would start, this game is down to the midfield battle. Can Rodri continue circulation possession and nipping attacks in the bud before they get going? Can Olise disrupt Rodri’s rhythm and evade him when on ball to set the speedsters away. I now feel better about France.

@TakesofAC Interesting, this is a big one for Mbappe, one for Theo Hernandez & free header from Upa or tchouameni I think. That’s some good opportunity for a side which was pretty poor all tournament. The attacking dynamics are just so much better now

@leedsnoinfidel This is the complete opposite for me😭 My concern wasn’t just with Mbappe. It’s the fact that France didn’t actually cause any threat after that chance(being 2-1 down) It shows you how well Spain are at suffocating teams with the ball, France were hopeless

@TakesofAC I watched this back last night and gave a lot more confidence in what France can do. This was a poor France side with Mbappe post nose break who was just flat out crap. And still created enough chances

You just can’t be this wasteful in a game of these margins
