Open Your Eyes
“OPEN YOUR EYES” is an expression of everything I’ve experienced, both as an artist and as a person.
Every sound, every collaboration, every decision on this EP carries a piece of that journey. I wanted to create something that doesn’t just move you, but makes you feel and see things different.
Thank You for forming part of this story — @ZYamungu , @maeywon @DjMaphorisa , @atmosblaq , @mpho_wav , @ezra_mlotshwa

@hbanhire Definitely, fallen heroes are not happy. The celebrations were spoiled by rains, even this side.

@TheLifeZoomer 😂😂Yes the top side of Whitecity. I finished my training in 2021.
You had to be in the system to understand the risks incurred especially for us guys that had no muscle in the high offices

@Talib_Maroe 😂😂😂That episode will make more sense for you. What years did you reside there. C6 was closest to the Dressing Station right?

THREAD 1/3
I once smuggled my wife and newborn baby into a men-only hostel and risked my entire future.
No plan. No backup. Just love, pressure and pure madness.
After a chaotic Lobola/Roora session, I went back to Hwange to face reality.
A first year apprentice.
Broke.
Living at White City Hwange ( Apprentices accomodation)
Strict rules:
NO women/girls allowed.
But life said: “Let’s test this boy properly.”
Pregnant wife - nowhere to stay.
Family with ability to help?
Vanished like rural network.
She ended up at her brother’s house.
You could feel the unwelcome from the gate.
Maiguru - not ready to be inconvenienced.
Food denied.
Woken up early like an unpaid worker.
Respect? Finished.
All I could offer was:
“All will be well my darling.”
(Meanwhile even me didn’t know how 😅)
Then labour came.
No support. Alone - 6 hr labour.
No husband to hold hands.
Told not allowed in the Maternity ward.
Visiting hour only.
That night- I played an Acapella song on cassette.
Tittle: Rescue by Acapella group. On repeat all night. We needed rescue.
Meanwhile at Hospital:
“You brought this on yourself, don’t annoy us” Yelled one nurse.
“This is the price of sleeping around.”
My wife, who had only known me.
Society doesn’t ask questions.
It just judges.
Finally pushed baby with no husband support like she was alone during the crime.
Life can be so brutally unfair to women
And it got worse…

ANGELS IN HUMAN FORM
I once handled a criminal case in Filabusi in my early years of practice. A client had been arrested on allegations of theft and fraud and needed legal representation.
Received a call around 12 in the afternoon from client advising that he had been arrested and would be taken to court the following day.
I hurriedly prepared for my departure from Harare to Filabusi (a distance of about 500km). I didn’t have a car so I had to use public transport.
I boarded a private vehicle at the Harare Showgrounds around 3pm. The driver, who was traveling with his wife and two children was going to Bulawayo. I had planned to disembark in Bulawayo and head to Filabusi straightaway.
I was in constant communication with my client and the driver heard our conversations. When we were in Gweru, he offered to accommodate me for the night, raising concerns about my safety. While I appreciated his offer, I declined as I didn’t want to inconvenience him and his family but he andhis wife insisted and literally begged me to stay at their place for the night. I had observed the wife’s countenance when he made the offer and realised that it remained radiant. She didn’t grimace. Their offer felt genuine and I acceded and stayed at their place for the night.
We arrived in Bulawayo around 9pm. We had many stops along the way at the instance of their children. They have such a nice and spacious place, big enough to accommodate the guy, his two wives, children and the relatives he stays with. It seemed as if he couldn’t wait to get home to introduce me to his family. Such a joyous and blessed family.
They fed me well. I took a bath and slept like a baby.
At around 4am the following morning, I woke up, bathed, changed clothes and thanked him and his wife, while holding back tears for their divine kindness before leaving.
Their son drove me to the Bulawayo CBD in one of their cars where I boarded a bus headed to Filabusi. I got to the Filabusi Police Station on time, properly interviewed my client, appeared in Court and secured his release on bail. He was eventually acquitted of the spurious charges.
That moment will stay with me forever. A complete stranger housed me for a night.
I vowed that if I ever bought a car, I would give free lifts. I’m glad I’m doing just that. . That’s my negligible contribution to society.
I am still in touch with the guy. I wish him and his family success in life.
Has anyone ever been kind to you? What’s your contribution to society?

@dracosrevenge I'm actually amazed at their storylines. Recently watched Silo and Presumed innocent and they'll have you hooked throughout without a question now on Chief of War
Netflix needs to up their game
English

Apple TV has some of the best series, Netflix needs to take notes. where Netflix seems to be dumbing down Apple TV seem like they respect their audience’s intelligence enough to make actual good tv and not overly selling out for money. Netflix invests in more money, Apple TV invests in real creativity and art

I have a theory on why the dumbest people usually end up being the richest and why the smartest are usually poor or just comfortable.

What does the insolvency of Mawere’s estate teach entrepreneurs?
To be clear, Mawere remains one of the very best entrepreneurs to come out of our land. And he exhibited the kind of intellectual and practical brilliance very few can achieve in their life time. More importantly he provides a blue print of state relationship with black entrepreneurs. So many lessons to learn.
Theyre many entrepreneurs who start businesses for money. And others it a calling. True entrepreneurs cannot help themselves. It’s who they are. Money or not
