Thoroughly enjoyed delivering this workshop. Feedback from audiologists was very positive & many said they’d change the language they typically use with parents upon identification.

British Deaf Association N. Ireland recently facilitated a training workshop delivered by Dr Kate Rowley for healthcare professionals working with deaf children on 'The Perspectives on the Care of a Deaf Child'. Thank you to @communitiesNI for funding this workshop.

@TalkTownGame was invited to present to the South Island Advisors on Deaf Children - we got lots of great feedback and ideas on how to extend our work to younger learner and their families.

challenged the school on this but oh it is so tiring and frustrating that I have to. If it doesn’t work, do I take it all the way? I worry that it would affect my relationship with the school & in turn affect their relationship with my daughter. She’s only just started Y7. Sighs.

So frustrated. My daughter’s school has said they won’t provide an interpreter for a meeting where her support will be discussed! She’s hearing but has dyslexia & suspected social communication issues. How I can support her if I can’t access the meeting?! Of course, I have

Having a positive personal identity is a powerful protector against bullying and stigma. @TalkTownGame gives deaf kids the opportunity to try out different identities and terms to describe themselves, and find out what works for them....
