I finished RE8 today. What a masterpiece. 😋😋 I was deeply moved by Ethan’s fearless and noble devotion as a father, risking everything for his wife in 7 and giving it all for his daughter in 8. It was also satisfying to see Chris as a playable character in the main story, rather than just being tucked away in a DLC like last time. But sadly he still couldn’t save Ethan. Once again... It instantly brought me back to RE6, reminding me of how he failed to save Piers and Finn. As Chris watched Ethan resolutely hold the detonator, sacrificing himself so he and Rose could escape, I couldn’t help but wonder if he remembered that about 8 yrs ago a loyal boy of his gave up his own life just to save him. Maybe he’s already forgotten. It feels like the whole world has forgotten Piers. In those official 'happy ending' media, Piers doesn’t even get to be a background shadow among the more popular characters. Sometimes just catching the faintest glimpse of Piers requires so much headcanon and guesswork, and I’m left feeling foolishly happy and content. The same goes for Helena. I guess the whole world has forgotten them simply because they aren’t the fan favorites. Just complaining.
