@davemark The best smart plug use case for me was plugging in my window air conditioner. In NY in summer it gets to be 98 degrees and humid. If I’m in my way home I turn it on half an hour before I get home. Life changing.

This is so hard. Silence of the Lambs, Terms of Endearment, No Country Not being able to pick American Beauty, Ordinary People, The Departed or Spotlight really hurts. Also Traffic and Lost in Translation should be choices in that list and it is bullshit they aren’t.

I adore Martin Scorsese. An indisputable living legend. His recent controversial essay on Fellini and the state of cinema as a dying art form is beautiful and prescient. I recommend reading it. I’m glad he’s out there. We’re lucky to have him.

@michaelshermer I don’t get this line of thinking. The be got a bunch of private loans and no federal loans left, so it probably won’t help me. I’d be psyched for the people it does help and it would help stimulate the economy. The real question is how to keep students from racking the debt up.

The people in debt will love this, of course, but what about the millions of students & their parents/grandparents who worked extra jobs, scrimped & saved to cover tuition/R&B costs (I am one)? Tough luck? Life isn't fair? Bad precedent to set I think.
