Whether Israelis are Christians or not is actually not the point.
The Israel of the Bible was largely Jewish, and Jews historically do not believe that Jesus is the Messiah. That has been the theological difference between Judaism and Christianity for over 2,000 years. So the fact that most Israelis today are Jewish and not Christians is not something new.
Christians do not support a nation because its citizens are Christians. If that were the case, we would only support a handful of countries in the world.
Nations build alliances based on shared interests, security, and values like stability and opposition to terrorism. Supporting a country defending itself against groups responsible for global terror does not require that the people of that country share your religion.
So knowing “what you’re doing” also means understanding the difference between theology, history, and geopolitics.
