@eaton @torchbox created wagtail CMS and based their whole business on it and away from Drupal. I think it’s gone well for them

I'm curious. Anyone out here working in an org that's built is own CMS and *doesn't* regret it? Not like, "We used an open source CMS and customized it a lot" or "we used a headless CMS and built our front end from scratch." Like… who's built their own CMS ground-up, and why?

@sprkwd Yunohost looks interesting and you’d use that to set up your services on your home server (own your data). The website is best run on a rented VPS for speed so you aren’t bound by your home connection

@sprkwd I go self hosted where I can. I have a server under the stairs which has a load of services running in docker containers, accessible on local network through a reverse proxy and also when out of the house with caddy as proxy off another server I own. It’s complicated but fun

@cafuego I think if I did it again I’d use webhooks and a CI server to build and then listen to the complete webhook to notify the content editor of a successful build

When generating static sites from a CMS source, how do people trigger builds? Information around static site builds is nearly always based on updating content kept in a repo which then triggers the build.

@cafuego On agile.coop that’s what I did, a custom Drupal module which presents a ‘stage’ and a ‘production’ button which triggers a script on the same server which builds the site and places dist in the correct place to be served
