Lots of changes in NISD with budget cuts. I’m no longer teaching STEM. I will miss my job, the families, & my wonderful co-workers at Beard. I’m starting a new career path as a Gifted and Talented Teacher at McAndrew Elementary. Super excited to learn & grow as an educator.

I am so proud of my girls today. They have been working hard since September. Today, they won 1st place in the Core Values Award. Also, they nominated me for the Outstanding Coach award. So grateful for these girls. Love being their Teacher/Coach! @NISDLockeHill

A post going around to save music education. I’ve spoke to a senior from Northside ISD who says they wanted to leave a legacy behind, and this is taking away voices.

In 24 hours, I will be back in my hometown of Crystal City to put on a STEM camp. It’s my first timer ever doing this on my own. I’m excited and nervous.

I made an end of the yr gift for each of our 5th graders. 104 lithophane nightlights w/their pic w/the Beard logo behind them. It took 30 hours for me to set up all the .stls then 257.5 hours to 3D print. Here is a pic of just 1 class & a video of the magic! Parents loved them!

Our Locking Lions Lego Robotics Team competed today against other NISD Lego Robotics teams! They won 1st place for their Innovation project & are advancing to the next round on April 6th! Thank you @TandusAlex5, @lopez_counselor, & Kat Gonzalez for supporting our Ss.

It has been a fun week in the lab. 2nd grade built beams for Structure unit. And today we tested the beams load(weight) I had so much fun!! @NISDLockeHill @NISDSTEMLabs

Day 5. We had some failure. Some of our attachments broke due to tension and pressure. So that wa an excellent discussion. We wound up reprinting some support post with a thicker filling to help and moved some of the posts to adjust the incline. Our previous slope was too steep.

This week, the 3rd grade got to explore the @Sphero Indi robot. We love that every student can code, no matter their academic level. Thanks to @nisdnef our grant. @NISDLockeHill

@NISDSTEMLabs Our Texan 5th graders are building their roller coaster using the Enginnering Design Process. We are at the creating and testing phase. Stay tuned for more. This is a 3D printing ambition and goal. More to. Come.
