China Executes Former GM of State-owned Company for Corruption
The Chinese government has executed the former general manager of the state-owned asset management company, China Huarong International Holdings, for taking bribes worth more than 1.1 billion yuan (US$155 million).
Bai Tianhui was executed this Tuesday in China's Tianjin Municipality after the Supreme People’s Court approved the sentence.
He is the second senior government official to be executed for bribery in recent years, as China continues its crackdown against corruption.
In January 2021, Lai Xiaomin, former chairman of China Huarong Asset Management, suffered a similar fate. This was after Xu Maiyong and Jiang Renjie, former deputy mayors of the eastern cities of Hangzhou and Suzhou, who were put to death in 2011.
If such a method is applied in Cameroon, which officials do you think will go down first?

Tomaïno Ndam Njoya Demands Inquiry into Death of Detained Politician, Anicet Ekane
Hon Tomaïno Ndam Njoya, President of Cameroon Democratic Union (UDC), has issued a forceful declaration calling on the government to "shed full light" on the death of opposition politician Anicet Ekane, who died while in state custody earlier on December 1.
The UDC leader said she learned of Ekane's death "with shock" and described the circumstances as "scandalous and likely morbid."
The party linked his death to a pattern of political repression in Cameroon, stating it "reiterates its demand... for the release of all political prisoners" who it says are "languishing in inhumane conditions."
The 2025 presidential candidate, who is also Mayor of the historical town of Foumban, frames Ekane's death as a critical failing of the state.
"The death of a politician in detention—the worst possible situation from which no regime, however torturous, should escape—is not likely to reassure Cameroonians," the UDC's statement reads.
The party called for "humility, and acknowledgment of responsibility, and a request for forgiveness to put Cameroon back on the path to lasting peace."

Michele Ndoki has issued a strong indictment following the confirmed death of opposition leader Anicet Ekane, who died while being held in detention.
In her statement, Ndoki described Ekane as “a courageous Cameroonian” who had been “arrested without charge” and held unlawfully. According to Ndoki, he was deliberately deprived of the medical care he needed to survive. She said his only “crime” was to refuse to bow to lies — and that for this, the authorities had decided to silence him.
Ndoki laid the blame squarely on the government of dictator Paul Biya, accusing it of being ready to destroy any Cameroonian who dares to stand up, speak the truth, or defend the dignity of the people. She called Ekane’s death a loss not only for his family but also a stain on justice in the nation.
She paid tribute to Ekane’s unbroken spirit — despite isolation, deprivation, and humiliation — and declared that his death would strengthen the resolve of those fighting for dignity, truth, and justice in Cameroon.
Ndoki ended her statement with a call to carry forward Ekane’s legacy: “For Anicet. For justice. For Cameroon.”

What did Mr Jean De Dieu Momo do to help his friend? Now that Anicet Ekane is gone, the minister delegate at the ministry of Justice now calls him a comrade in the struggle for democracy. This minister is one of those in the government fighting to keep Cameroon's democracy backward.
This is what he wrote as a reaction to Anicet Ekane’s death.
“Anicet Ekane, my friend, my comrade in the struggle for democracy and human rights, go and rest in peace, fighter.”

Teenage mechanic found dead in Ndu amid rising insecurity
A young Fulani mechanic, believed to be around 15 years old, who went missing in Ndu in Cameroon’s North-West Region, has been found dead with his throat slit, according to local sources. Community members have accused an armed Ambazonia separatist group involved in kidnappings and ransom demands, though no group has publicly claimed responsibility.
The killing comes just days after a deadly attack on a mosque in Sabga, where armed ambazonia separatists were also implicated. The incidents have heightened tensions and fear among residents already facing ongoing threats in the region.
The Biya regime and security forces have not yet released an official statement on the latest killing, as they are all busy targeting innocent civilians in other parts of the country in a bid to steal the people's mandate through force.

“Cameroon is a very corrupt country,” renowned filmmaker and CEO of the Cameroon Movie Festival, Agbor Gilbert has stated, expressing his profound frustration on decays rocking the contested Biya regime in Yaounde.
In a Facebook post, the outspoken movie entrepreneur lamented that each day brings a new discovery of “how wicked and corrupt” the nation's leaders are. The most aggravating aspect, according to Agbor, is that these individuals act without remorse.
“They do it unapologetically, to such an extent that it is becoming a competition to be the most corrupt,” Agbor said “There is almost no hope of redemption, but until there's a death penalty for corrupt government officials and lawmakers in Cameroon, this country will never progress.”
Agbor’s frustration reflects the hardships many Cameroonians endure amidst a worsening governance situation. Despite its oil and mineral wealth, the country remains one of the most heavily indebted in the world.
While the nation is rich in resources, a few individuals at the helm of affairs maintain fat bank accounts and live extravagantly with their families. In stark contrast, statistics indicate that over 10 million Cameroonians survive on less than 1,000 FCFA per day. The cost of living continues to rise daily, and job opportunities, particularly for the youth, are scarce.
To Agbor Gilbert, anyone who disagrees with this assessment is either ‘corrupt bastard’ or benefits from the system.
“Cameroon has far too many influential people using their power for evil,” he said “What this nation needs is accountability, justice, and a complete end to their influence over our future.”
He added, “We can achieve a better and more beautiful Cameroon if we choose to love and protect it.”
Meanwhile, at the helm of all the nation’s decline lies the contested rule of 92-year-old Paul Biya, who has ruled since 1982 and is looking forward to clocking half a century in power.

Cameroon Anti-Corruption Youths Movement has urged the Minister of Justice to investigate allegations of electoral fraud and corruption linked to the October 12, 2025, presidential election, which it says have contributed to ongoing post-election violence across the country.
In a letter dated October 29, the group's national president, Nkweti Roland Ticha, said Cameroon is witnessing “an unprecedented growing tension and violence following the official proclamation of the October 12, 2025, election to elect the President of the Republic.”
He added that the unrest is “directly or indirectly linked to the actions of those who corrupted and defrauded the election process,” warning that mistrust between citizens and institutions has widened because of these acts.
The letter stated that “many individuals were caught on camera bribing electors and stuffing ballot boxes,” and urged the Ministry of Justice to launch investigations and hold those responsible accountable.
“The Cameroon Penal Code in its sections 122, 123, and 141 clearly reprimands electoral fraud and corruption,” Ticha wrote. “We would appreciate if investigations are launched and the perpetrators judged for justice, and therefore peace, to reign.”

Early trends expected after polls close
A few hours after the polls closed, the Independent Electoral Commission (CEI) invited the media for an initial update on the electoral process.
Around 10 p.m., roughly four hours after the end of voting, CEI President Ibrahime Kuibiert Coulibaly gave a brief overview of the day’s events. He praised the overall conduct of the election and noted that result compilation is ongoing, supported by advanced digital tools allowing real-time transmission of data from polling stations.
According to preliminary figures, voter turnout is estimated at around 50%. The provisional results will be officially released in the coming days, the commission’s president confirmed.

While some traditional leaders have been calling for peace without addressing allegations of electoral fraud, Chief Oscar Sona Ebanja of Mukonje Village, Paramount Ruler of the Balong tribe in Kumba, has taken a firm stand, urging the Constitutional Council to “respect the will of the people.”
In a video message sent to MMI, Chief Ebanja criticized what he described as hypocrisy among some of his peers, saying their silence on electoral irregularities is fueling tensions across the country.
“The people are a mirror — they reflect the mirror you show them,” he said, emphasizing that genuine peace can only come through justice and respect for the democratic process.

As Cameroon awaits the official proclamation of presidential election results, mysterious flyers titled “NON à la déstabilisation du Cameroun CHEZ MOI” are circulating across Yaoundé, urging citizens to remain calm, reject protests, and report any “negative attitudes” in the aftermath of the vote.
Observers and opposition figures argue that the distribution of these flyers reflects deep fear within the regime. This is the fear that Cameroonians, increasingly aware of their collective power, might rise up against electoral fraud.
With mounting evidence of ballot stuffing, falsified results, and irregularities, the messaging is widely seen as a preemptive attempt to suppress dissent, discouraging citizens from questioning a process that critics claim has been rigged from the start.
Many analysts warn that such tactics resemble propaganda designed to keep the population docile, ensuring that frustrations over stolen votes do not escalate into wider protests.

Cameroon’s major cities have taken on the look of a country under siege. In Yaoundé, Douala, Garoua, Bafoussam and Maroua, soldiers are stationed at street corners, armoured vehicles patrol the roads, and new checkpoints appear by the hour. Civilian movement has been restricted, and the atmosphere is tense. All this is happening even before the official results of the 12 October presidential election have been announced.
The situation raises a crucial question: if Cameroonians truly voted overwhelmingly for President Paul Biya, as government supporters claim, why is his regime acting as if it expects revolt rather than celebration?
Opposition candidate Issa Tchiroma Bakary declared on 14 October that he had won the election. He cited what he called “the truth of the ballot box” and pointed to faulty vote tallies that, in his view, distorted the real outcome. Official results have yet to be made public, but government sources insist that Biya and his ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) secured victory. Between this expectation of a Biya win and the lack of an official proclamation lies a deep sense of uncertainty, and a heavy military presence that has become impossible to ignore.... The G20, an unpopular pro-Biya coalition made up of 20 little-known political parties and defectors from the opposition, has condemned Issa Tchiroma Bakary’s claim that he has won the 2025 presidential election.
Speaking at a press conference in Yaounde today, the group, led by the Minister Delegate Jean de Dieu Momo, said only the Constitutional Council has the legal authority to proclaim the results of the election.
Tchiroma, the FSNC presidential candidate, has recorded sweeping victories in early vote trends against long-serving President Paul Biya and has already received congratulations from three fellow presidential candidates.
Meanwhile, several political groups and civil society, including the Cameroon Bar Association, have urged the Constitutional Council to respect the will of the people, as Tchiroma is widely believed to have won the election.

The ruling CPDM party has fired back at presidential candidate Issa Tchiroma Bakary for declaring himself as the winner of the 2025 election, stating that his statistics were “prefabricated by a hidden firm”.
A statement signed by the Communication Secretary of the CPDM Central Committee, Prof Jacques Fame Ndongo, terms Tchiroma's claim illegal.
“This is a grotesque farce. A disgraceful hoax. An unacceptable forfeiture in a state governed by the rule of law,” Fame Ndongo wrote.
Tchiroma, who pulled large crowds at nationwide campaign rallies, declared himself winner of the October 12 vote early this Tuesday, as results are being compiled.
“Can this candidate present the minutes of all the polling stations, duly signed by all the representatives of the Parties, including his own?” Fame Ndongo questioned.
He also fired shots at international media that have reported Issa Tchiroma's claim of victory, stating that “these media outlets did not bother to carry out a basic and essential journalistic operation: criticizing the sources”.
President Paul Biya's party says it will only accept results proclaimed by the Constitutional Council, a body whose 11 members were all appointed by Biya.
