In 2021, Carlos Fresco set out to give his beloved Labradoodle, Monty, one final adventure they would never forget. Monty had been bravely fighting leukaemia, but as his condition worsened, he could no longer walk. Knowing how much Monty loved the outdoors, especially the hills they had explored together, Carlos was determined to take him back one last time. So, with quiet determination and a lot of love, Carlos placed Monty gently into a wheelbarrow lined with blankets and began the journey up Pen y Fan, their favourite mountain in Wales. What happened next turned a deeply personal goodbye into something far bigger. Along the climb, strangers stopped to offer encouragement, and then something more. One by one, fellow walkers stepped in to help push the wheelbarrow, sharing the weight of the journey. What could have been a solitary, heartbreaking moment became a powerful display of kindness, connection, and compassion. Monty, who had always loved people and attention, seemed to enjoy every moment surrounded by care, fresh air, and the landscape he adored. Just days later, Monty passed away peacefully at home. But that final journey lives on as a reminder of the extraordinary bond between humans and their dogs, and of the quiet, beautiful ways strangers can come together to carry one another through life’s hardest moments.

Very Important Message!! Do NOT, and I repeat do not buy plants treated with Neonicotinoids. Bees take the pollen back to the hive and feed it to the brood. This is a number one cause of the colony collapse. It's important to NOT buy these plants! Make sure to share this post!

American Universities show a massive die-off of Honeybees in the United States - 60% to 80% colony loss in the US through 2025 - Wild bees show a 30-96% decline in species, including Honeybees (96% WOW) This woman went to Cornell and got a Masters in Beekeeping, she explains why “Well, the bees are dying. They were claiming catastrophic historic losses. This last year, 60 to 80% of all bees, all honeybees in the US just dead. They're gone. Cornell University. They have a hunch. Their hunch is that it's neonicotinoids and pesticides in monocrop farming. Well, I'm here to tell you I don't have a hunch. I know. I know what it is. I went to Cornell University to get my master beekeepers. My final paper was on neonicotinoid. Neonicotinoid is a type of pesticide that is extreme. It makes it extremely effective. It lives systemically in the plant, and if you have a plant with really dense tissue, like a tree, like a tree trunk, it holds onto that poison for years. So if you're spraying your tree every year, it's getting more and more potent to the point where when it blossoms in the spring, if a honeybee was to feed off of that nectar, it could disorient and not even make it back to the hive, or it could just drop dead on the flower. Neonicotinoids are used in lawn sprays. If you ever have anyone knocking at your door and wanting to spray your lawn saying, oh, we don't spray the flowers, we don't. It's all affecting everything. It gets in the groundwater when the farmers spray their crops. And this is one of the main reasons that the monarch butterfly migration is depleting. It's because of these new nicotinoids. But of course, it's super effective, so people are going to be using it. You have a green lawn, you have beautiful trees, like, why not use it? And the more you use it, the more your plant or your grass are dependent on it. If you stop using it, it's going to look worse than it did before. So quit spraying your grass, quit spraying your trees. Find alternative ways to do it. And if you have to, if you absolutely have, use some sort of pesticide, don't use a neonicotinoid. And it's hidden under these names. - imidacloprid - acetamiprid - thiacloprid - dinotefuran - nitenpyram - thiamethoxam - clothianidin So remember these names. Turn around your bottle, see if anything there is listed in what you're using, quit using it.”

The die-off of honeybees is a direct result of bureaucratic negligence and misplaced priorities. Neonicotinoids like thiamethoxam and imidacloprid are government-approved environmental poisons that persist in plants for years, disorienting bees and collapsing colonies—exactly as described in the 2017 Scientific Reports study showing these chemicals reduce flight distance by 56% and impair navigation. While the EU banned field use of major neonics in 2013, U.S. regulators keep rubber-stamping these toxins for lawns and crops, prioritizing Big Ag profits over ecosystem survival. Taxpayer-funded subsidies for industrial monoculture farming exacerbate the problem, creating a vicious cycle where 96% of wild bee species face extinction. The solution isn’t complicated: ban systemic pesticides, redirect farm subsidies to regenerative practices, and hold the EPA accountable for ignoring a decade of damning research. Every sprayed lawn and treated crop is another nail in the coffin for pollinators—and the food systems they sustain.
