Ah, but Love already claimed his third career #NASCAR Xfinity Series victory back at Rockingham in April.
That is, until post-race inspection ripped the win away from the No. 2 team.

@WBCREW24 @BrakeHardBlog Since I ran through some math to fire rebuttals in this conversation, would you mind looking into some races where you feel Byron was great but didn’t lead more than 15 laps?
I’m curious about your findings, but I’ll tell you this: getting stage points ≠ a strong car/showing

Byron led 667 of those laps in three races: 243 at spring Darlington, 283 at the 600, and 141 at Iowa.
In addition, he led another 98 at Michigan and 83 at spring Phoenix, bringing his total to 848/915 laps led over the course of just 5/32 races.

@BrakeHardBlog You could argue that Bianchi’s phrasing was poor, and I’d agree.
But, this is the heart of what he was saying.
Byron’s great when he’s on, but they’ve been off for much of the year. He’s had one of the more unspectacular seasons in memory, and the stats I laid out back that up.

Quantitatively, Byron has led a lot of laps, but the context behind those laps is important, which your post does away with.
He was somewhat dominant in five races this year, but he’s led just 67 laps in the other 27 races.
Not exactly impressive.

Always a great day when one of your works gets published!
I documented the 2002 season for Matt Kenseth where he led the Cup Series in wins, but he ultimately finished eighth in the title battle. I compared it to his 2003 season, and the results were staggering!
