It is interesting that - so far - little to no increase in DV incidents. Not to dismiss other data, but WDVCAS' cover every postode in NSW. Will post it l8r.

@mike_salter Im collecting data from the 27xWDVCAS' statewide in NSW to see if they had an increase in Police referrals last night after State of Origin. So far it is showing little to no increase. Not dismissing data around, but it is interesting data fm a statewide DV spec service.

The link between sport, alcohol and domestic violence is a global one. It' s not complicated and we don't need to make it complicated. sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

Domestic violence increases around sporting events because drinking increases. Word games over whether alcohol is a "cause" of violence or "increases the likelihood" (which means the same thing) lets sporting codes off the hook for taking alcohol sponsorship & adverts.

@MarkSpeakman @smh With the announcement I'm yet to be clear on what charges need to be laid to qualify for this. Please don't make it for the offences that are higher eg: Intentionally Choke - please make it for those charges we see all the time. Stalk/Intimidate AOABH

Capitals for emphasis - but this is such an important note from the frontline of #DFV. There are significant numbers of offenders using complex, brutal, controlling tactics, with no criminal record, & who have never had contact with the criminal justice system.
