@KarinKGW @FamilyLawHour Agreed. The soft skills, and skills I learnt generally, in my collaborative training, are invaluable to my day to day work. The training itself has far reaching benefits

@Ian__Hawkins @FamilyLawHour Massive. All of the best collaborative outcomes in my cases have involved other professionals. They bring so many other skills to the table we don’t have. I also agree with @Ian__Hawkins that involving other professionals from the start is clearly preferable

@FamilyLawHour In this ever changing world, the traditional approach doesn’t always have the desired effect. Any meaningful support such as “neutrals” should always be encouraged so that clients are able to make rational and reasonable decisions (sooner) in what is a very costly process

@DwDivorce @TashFamilyLaw @FamilyLawHour The number of practitioners offering collaborative seems to have reduced and it is rare to find someone so trained on both sides. The pFDR is the current fashionable approach - private replica of the court

@FamilyLawHour Involving others that have the right skill set for different parts of the work we do can cut through the issues, bring clarity for the clients and help them to feel supported and informed on their decision making. The benefits of therapeutic work are immeasurable.

@FamilyLawHour Being involved early as a financial neutral is preferable to being introduced later on. Financial education and balancing the knowledge between the parties aids discussions and cash flow forecasting can bring clarity in a visual format.

@TashFamilyLaw @FamilyLawHour Yes but sadly it’s a postcode lottery as some parts of the country have far less collaborative lawyers than others. The solution in my view is to make collaborative training an essential family law skill for all family law professionals

@FamilyLawHour I think most clients start off wanting to resolve things “out of court” but in many cases, they become frustrated by the lack of progress or willingness to negotiate and then they want their day in court, so they can tell the Judge exactly what they’ve had to live through..
