"This morning, I went to retrieve the bodies of two more soldiers who were killed at Hill 350. They left the bodies exposed to the sun and rain for three to four days, refusing to allow us to enter and recover them properly. They were used as bait, prepared in case we went in, so they could attack us again. This is not the conduct of people who genuinely want peace.” PM Anutin Charnvirakul 21 December 2025 #ThailandCambodia #Thailand #Cambodia #Anutin #ไทยกัมพูชา

“They call asking for a ceasefire, asking Thailand to go back to doing this or that, asking Thailand to respect this or respect that. But look—who is respecting Thailand? This is what must be emphasized again: go tell those who are harming Thailand, not Thailand itself. Thailand no longer believes this person or that person. Thailand believes in itself, and we will act in the way we deem appropriate. We cannot allow our fellow soldiers—our people—to be bullied like this. This is part of what sovereignty means. "We must bring this to an end as quickly as possible. We do not want any more losses. This has nothing to do with elections or anything else. The military and the armed forces must urgently move to establish sovereignty and security in all targeted areas as soon as possible. We should not worry about pleasing anyone. Right now, we must protect Thai people and protect the lives of our own personnel. The soldiers have no other choice.” PM Anutin Charnvirakul 21 December 2025 #Thailand #ThailandCambodia #ไทยกัมพูชา #Anutin

Thai Navy Says Cambodia Violated Landmine Ban The Royal Thai Navy said on December 18 it has found clear evidence that Cambodia violated the 1997 Ottawa Convention and international humanitarian law after Thai forces retook former Cambodian military positions near the border. Navy spokesman Rear Adm. Parach Rattanachaiyaphan said troops discovered 16 operational anti-personnel landmines, modified from anti-tank mines, at a site in Ban Nong Ree, posing a serious threat to soldiers and civilians. Thai authorities also said they seized Cambodian military documents showing systematic training in the use of PMN-2 anti-personnel mines, with records dated Oct. 7, 2024. The navy said the findings point to deliberate and ongoing use of banned weapons. Thailand condemned the actions, called on Cambodia to stop immediately, and reaffirmed its commitment to protect national security and civilians in line with international law. #landmine #ThailandCambodia

Thailand has uncovered crucial evidence confirming that Cambodia planted #anti-personnel landmines, in violation of the Ottawa Convention. After Thai forces regained control of Ban Nong Ree (Ban Sam Lang) in Trat Province along the Thai–Cambodian border—an area previously occupied by Cambodian forces—16 PMN-2 anti-personnel landmines were discovered. The key evidence includes a Khmer-language document recording trainees who received instruction on the use of PMN-2 anti-personnel landmines. The document covers the general characteristics of the mines, their deployment, and clearance procedures, and explicitly states that the training was conducted on 7 October 2024. This document constitutes clear and compelling evidence showing that Cambodian forces systematically and continuously trained Cambodian soldiers in the deployment of PMN-2 anti-personnel landmines. This was not an accidental or ad hoc act, but rather reflects an intentional use of anti-personnel landmine warfare against Thailand, further underscoring a blatant violation of international humanitarian law. #TruthFromThailand #ไทยกัมพูชา

Thailand today demanded Cambodia to be the first to announce a ceasefire for the ongoing deadly border clashes which have entered their second week to stop. Thai Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maratee Nalita Andamo said such a ceasefire must also be “genuine and sustainable.” “Not a ceasefire that is again followed by violence,” she said at a daily joint media briefing by the Foreign Ministry and the armed forces. world.thaipbs.or.th/detail/cambodi… #ThaiPBSWorld #ThailandNews #Thailand #thailandcambodia #Cambodia

Thai PM: If Trump wants ceasefire, Cambodia should stop firing first Caretaking Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said if U.S. President Donald Trump wants a ceasefire between Thailand and Cambodia, he should first ask Cambodia to stop firing. Anutin emphasized that Thailand has never initiated attacks in the ongoing border clashes. Trump, speaking at a Medal of Valor ceremony at the White House on Dec. 15, claimed that the United States had helped both countries reach a ceasefire, calling the conflict one of eight wars he had resolved since taking office. He praised Thailand and Cambodia for working together to address the clashes, which have resulted in casualties. However, the ceasefire has not held, with fighting continuing along the border. Anutin stressed that Thailand will maintain its defensive operations until the threat from Cambodia is neutralized. Addressing international pressure, including appeals from China’s Foreign Ministry, Anutin signaled that Thailand would not halt military operations unilaterally while under attack. The clashes have persisted while Cambodia has publicly claimed readiness to halt fighting, yet engagements continue. ASEAN foreign ministers are scheduled to meet on Dec. 22 to discuss the situation. #Thailand #Cambodia #US #ไทยกัมพูชา #ชายแดนไทยกัมพูชา

I’ve come back to this quote several times today. It is hard to overstate how reckless it is. An objective of permanently disabling another country’s military capabilities leaves no clear limits on the use of force. It is escalation without restraint and fits the definition of an invasion. “We need to disable Cambodia’s military capabilities by targeting their military hardware and infrastructure. We will do it to a point that Cambodia will not pose a military threat to Thailand for a long time.”
Jacob in Cambodia 🇺🇸 🇰🇭@jacobincambodia

In an interview with Thai PBS, Thailand’s army chief of staff made a statement that is very worrying. “We need to disable Cambodia’s military capabilities by targeting their military hardware and infrastructure. We will do it to a point that Cambodia will not pose a military threat to Thailand for a long time.” This goes well beyond border defense. It outlines a deliberate strategy to degrade Cambodia’s military capacity over the long term. Targeting arms depots, fuel storage, military infrastructure, and reinforcements inside Cambodian territory is not a limited or temporary response. It is a sustained campaign intended to slow recovery for years. Thailand continues to frame these operations as self-defense and argues that any ceasefire or mediation should come only after its objectives are met. In practice, that leaves little space for de-escalation while civilians inside Cambodia remain exposed to ongoing strikes. This is an unusually blunt articulation of intent. Disabling another country’s military “for a long time” only signals escalation.
