Cold soils don’t stop the seed. They slow everything around it. Early on, the plant is running on reserves while nutrient availability and root growth lag behind. Phosphorus, zinc, and manganese are all less available in cold conditions, right when the plant needs them most. Active Prime places nutrition directly on the seed. Phosphate (15%), zinc (0.9%), manganese (0.8%), and supporting micros are right there at germination, supported by chelation and organic acids to keep them available. No waiting on soil chemistry. No early-season gap.

Cold soils change the math. Not because nutrients disappear. Because access disappears. You can have fertility in the soil… and still have a hungry crop. In a cold spring, everything slows. Roots. Movement. Release. So nutrients show up late. And early season is where yield is set. That is the shift. This is not a rate problem. It is an access and timing problem. More fertilizer does not fix that. Availability does. The fertility that works this spring will be the fertility the plant can reach early and hold onto long enough to use. Everything else is just potential. Cold soils do not lower the stakes. They expose what is actually working , they expose inefficiency. How efficient is your fertility plan for 2026?

Worried about fertilizer prices this spring? Traditional phosphate fertilizers like MAP, DAP, and MESZ are expensive...especially when you realize they’re only ~20% efficient! Switch to CG P2X (9-42-0 + 9% Mg): 95%+ efficiency, apply 35% less, at the same price per acre. Now that's an ROI we can get behind! #CGP2X #P2X #Ostara #phosphateperfected #healthiersoils #highyield

Ask your local retail about CG P2X- years of trial data available showing it wins over MAP agronomically AND economically. Check it out, with prices this year you, can’t afford not to!
Ostara@CGP2XbyOstara

This #PWeek we’re shining the light on the most efficient phosphate fertilizer on the market: CG P2X. Unlike traditional ammonium phosphates that tie-up, leach, or wash away (often delivering only 20-30% plant-available P), CG P2X delivers 2X more plant-available phosphorus with over 95% efficiency. If you're ready to make every pound of P count, DM us! Or ask your retailer how you can get some of this P magic in your fields this year. #Ostara #phosphateperfected #CGP2X #healthiersoils #highyield #P2X

Cold engine? You don’t just turn the key and hope for the best. You prime it. Seeds are no different. Before emergence, every plant is running on what’s inside that seed. And not every seed starts equal. That’s where Active Prime comes in. By delivering targeted nutrition and a patented synthetic biostimulant directly on seed, you remove early season limitations, drive stronger emergence, and set the crop up to perform from day one. Don’t leave your start to chance. Prime it. #TheAgronomyYouDidntKnow #SeedFertility #ActivePrime #PlantPerformance

Safe underground? Think again. Even banded urea has a "hidden leak," losing up to 18% of its nitrogen into the air. Is 'out of sight, out of mind' quietly costing us bushels? We often assume that once urea is covered, the job is done and the nutrients are locked in. We shallow-band (under 5 cm) for very practical reasons: it lowers tractor draft, speeds up seeding, and provides early nutrient uptake for the crop. But the science paints a much more complicated picture of what happens beneath the surface. Recent 2025 research from the University of Manitoba reveals that even banded, untreated urea is vulnerable to significant volatilization. In sandy soils, the study measured an 18% nitrogen loss, which translates to an average of about 34 lbs per hectare invisibly escaping into the atmosphere. Even in loam soils, the "hidden leak" still hovered around 13%. This forces a challenging question: at what depth does banding actually provide a perfect seal? The data shows that every single centimeter we place fertilizer closer to the surface increases nitrogen loss by roughly 7 to 10%. Are the operational fuel and time savings we gain by pulling a shallow drill actually offsetting the invisible nitrogen we lose in the weeks that follow? Using a nitrogen stabilizer can reduce this specific banding leak by over 92%, dropping the loss down to single digits and saving roughly 31 lbs of nitrogen per hectare. It might be time to ask ourselves if our underground bands are as secure as we hope, or if we need to rethink how we protect our investment beneath the soil. Connect with your local Taurus Rep to learn more and discuss the research! taurus.ag/our-team/
