Winnipeg's Ryan Johnson (aka "Temu Ohtani") is hitting and pitching for Czechia at the World Baseball Classic.
He'll get to meet the real Ohtani tomorrow morning when they play Japan. I spoke to him about the WBC and the story behind playing for Czechia.

Despite the setback, Schoen hired a CFL agent and plans to play again once healthy, I'm told.
l wouldn't write him off. He showed a lot of heart this year rehabbing his latest ACL tear for 6 weeks before attempting to play through it. Not many would even think of trying that.

The Bombers will not be re-signing star REC Dalton Schoen, sources tell the Free Press. The pending FA is still recovering from surgery to repair a torn ACL in his left knee and isn't expected to be ready until the fall. Schoen tore that same ACL in 2024.

@KimBabij I'm no medical expert but I would agree that it was extremely unrealistic to think he could've played the rest of the season on a torn ACL.

@TaylorAllen31 What good is heart though, on an ACL that’s now twice-reconstructed? Trying to play through it was foolish, and put the team in a tough spot having lost a huge free agent signing that they build the receiving corps around. I wouldn’t bank on that knee again.

@BomberHistory Released back in August and haven't heard anything about him since. And yeah, you're not wrong. It's hard for an American RB to have a role outside of being Brady Oliveira insurance.

Here’s a name to keep an eye on in training camp: the Bombers have signed former NFL RB J.J. Taylor.
He spent 2020–23 with New England and 2024–25 with Houston. In 17 career games, he had 62 carries for 200 yards and 2 TDs, plus 8 catches for 20 yards.

Just checking out Jarell Broxton's CFL career: every start has been at left tackle or left guard (5 at left guard in 2022).
Stanley Bryant has been left tackle for the Bombers since 2015.

Now hearing there are three teams interested in veteran DB Demerio Houston. The 29-year-old appeared in five games last year with Winnipeg but has 14 career interceptions in 50 regular-season contests with the Bombers and Calgary.
