@moonchildshreya Geninuely it’s really impressive how much character Chris puts into his performance. You can see the pain and weight of responsibility Phillip is taking on at the death of his brother. He’s clearly uncomfortable and unprepared for what he’s now been thrust into.

@TheStarwald Characters are aware that they’re making. He assumes that Ishar knows what he’s talking about and that word would have meaning to him but it doesn’t because it’s an alien word. So it’s a silly scene to us but it’s not to Kal or Ishar.

@TheStarwald But it’s what Hoid told him he was becoming. Like if you take therapist out of it and all the real world associations it has with it and Brandon used a fictional word, would that make the line better? And in universe it’s not supposed to be a quip like you know MCU….

Sanderson is one of my idols. His books have made a measurable impact on my life, notably Oathbringer, Way of Kings, and the Mistborn series. My first book ever published, Everfont, is extremely similar in prose and progression (albeit my attempt is much more fumbling and amatuerish). He to this day stands as one of my greatest inspirations. I think Wind and Truth, Rhythm of War, and Lost Metal are his weakest books. I don't know what changed, but there has been a notable shift in quality. I genuinely hope he is able to return to form. I've met him in person once before (outside of author/writing events) and he is a genuinely nice person. I wish him nothing but the best, as he is one of my heroes.
