Last year, Georgian civil society and the people protested strongly against the Russian law. Ruling party had to drop the bill and pledged never to reintroduce it. However, the government deceived its citizens. Russian style “foreign influence” bill is in the parliament again.

Despite promises from the gov that the bill had been permanently shelved, the ruling party has reintroduced the "foreign agents" bill, after the March protests of last year, during which the Georgian people forced the gov to abandon the bill following mass protests.

Georgian Dream is to relaunch law on declaring CSOs as ‘foreign agents” also known as the ‘Russian law’ due to its similarities with the legislation in Russia. The decision on resubmitting the law was announced by GD majority leader Mamuka Mdinaradze. The law was withdrawn following massive protests in March 2023.

📢📢 GEO Gov has introduced a bill that prohibits gender recognition and gender transitioning, restricts the freedom of assembly. Even worse, it prohibits the production of art that promotes LGBTQI+ related concepts.
