The Fourth Doctor overstayed his welcome by Season 16. Not because the next few seasons were particularly bad ("City of Death" is a masterpiece), but because he ended up having as many duds as he did hits. You could tell Tom's heart wasn't in it by S18.

@phone_dump @BernardJKD @FeastofSteven I can't understand how the quality can drop so much in the second half, it's unbelievable. When people talk about DMP they're definitely conflating the first half's quality with its overall quality.

@phone_dump @BernardJKD @FeastofSteven I remember seeing the stage version of DMP many years ago, and as far as I can remember the stage version cut a vast section of the 2nd half of DMP out so its main bulk of the show was content from 1-5 + 11/12 with the Doctor regenerating at the end. I think it worked much better

Really looking forward to see What Douglas Camfield did for Episodes 1 and 3 Of The Daleks Master Plan. Probably one of the best classic who directors. This sequence here from The Web of Fear is incredible. It feels like a movie. Not an episode of a BBC Television Programme.
