Our MS drama production was The Yellow Boat. So many tears; beautifully done. Brought up so many personal emotions- I found my uncle’s panel from aids quilt. I was in 6th grade when he died, and it left a profound impact on me & fueled decades of aids education & activism. ❤️🎗

Ha! A fun end of week in #middleschool, leading into a much needed October break. Participating in a 6th grade science cow eyeball dissection. And I was the ‘golden egg’ for our house system game of hide and seek on Friday afternoon. So fun!!! #isklearns

What a big week. Quarter 1 has gone in the blink of an eye. This week our MS Rock Band welcomed us to school 1 morning, PTO gift shop reopened on campus (!), conferences face-to-face (!), and teacher celebrations (donuts & happy hour). Phew. Good stuff! ❤️

Precedent is a poor reason for decisions. It calcifies the status quo without a compelling rationale. It doesn’t matter how long a tradition has stood. If the old way is wrong, it should be challenged and changed. Progress lies in improving the future, not defending the past.

We must educate our young children in the practice of compassion on a worldwide scale. Teachers and parents can instill in children real, warmhearted human values to tremendous benefit. We need a transformation in commitment to the universal values of compassion and love.

In burnout cultures, people are judged by the sacrifices they make. Hobbies, vacations, and even family time are viewed as distractions to penalize. In healthy cultures, people are judged by the commitments they keep. Interests outside work are seen as passions to celebrate.

Day by day, it's tempting to sacrifice well-being for success. Pushing past exhaustion brings short-term rewards. Over time, well-being is vital to success. Daily exhaustion adds up to long-term burnout. Success can be attained without rest, but it isn't sustained without rest.
