Anyone teach economic activity at KS3? Would love to see how people sequence it - also includes trade, potentially Almighty Dollar work too

China can't buy oil because Iran has closed the Strait of Hormuz and so they will buy it from the Russians. Russia will make a lot of money from this war. If Zelensky doesn't reopen the Friendship Pipeline, we Hungarians will have enough oil. But where does Europe get oil from?

@flightradar24 has always been one of my favourite underrated tools to teach, Geopolitics and globalisation - a great way to make quite complex ideas brought into every day contexts. Today this can be seen - more so than ever.

What are popular rewards for your classes? Finding something desirable and age appropriate for secondary is hard. TikTok shop (£1~ for 100) travel stickers are going down a treat - but have to be hard fought for - best in test, most impressed by… best homework etc

@robbeorn It’s going to be hard - but it might be worth it. I know CAs who would love opportunity to grow their career and become more specialised. I also would love to have more voice in where and when I need extra help with SEN pupils.

It is worth reading this. It could lead to big changes in the way pupils with #SEN are supported. But it does seem to put more demands on school heads and SENCOs. And there will also be an impact on classroom assistants.

Today with my lower band Y8 (Y7 in Eng) we turned to creative writing (not just for English lessons!) but instead using OS map symbols to help to tell their stories 🗺️📍 Was so pleased with how they did!

Spotted one of my pupil’s folders had these stickers on them and I thought it was a genius was to support pupils like her who have organisation issues - so simple and very effective in telling her immediately what days her books are needed.

Can’t remember who or where I saw these writing frame strips but I find they are the best way to get my reluctant Y9s (Y8 in England) to do extended writing - this terms topic - population and the one child policy. 🇨🇳

@polleyk2 This was done with a bottom set - Y8 (English y7) and for them this rounded of the topic nicely - with 0 pressure of writing and recall but also supported fine motor skills, problem solving, understanding shape - such important learning aspects which sometimes get neglected.

@TeachWithAlice Love this activity. I do wonder though that traning teachers view this / are told this?? as 'being busy'! So much learnt from this though!

This amount of card hoarding and double Y8 on the last day before half term can only mean one thing - cereal box island!

@kate_stockings It took me a year of thinking - what the heck is this? But I was fortunate to do a lot of it involuntarily at uni - and once I found loads of good examples to back up the theory - it became much more interesting and actually one of my favourite topics.

Been teaching 10 years and honestly, I think teaching AQA A-Level Changing Places for the 1st time is the hardest thing I've done in that time. Who on earth chooses this spec out of choice?! Enough to be a deal-breaker when next moving schools, I tell ya🤯😵‍💫😫
