Supporting local recorders is part of our role at NEYEDC. We're always keen to get involved in recording projects across the region to lend our skills in data management, visualisation and analysis to compliment the field skills and expertise of our local recorders 🤝

We were visited by one of our local recorders in the office this week in preparation for some exciting work analysing farmland bird transect survey data from the Wolds. Together our job will be to see what we can infer of their abundance, distribution, and habitat preference 🪶

We had an uplifting afternoon on Friday at the Hull & East Yorkshire Nature Recovery Conference, celebrating the launch of the region's LNRS. We particularly loved the video produced to introduce the strategy - you can find it (+ other resources) here: heylnp.co.uk/lnrs/🌿

Yesterday was the first day of astronomical spring or the vernal equinox. Our team have been noticing the first signs of the season this week, including circling bats, singing Yellowhammer, flowering Crocus and a pair of frogs. Spring is coming! 🌼

Work continues on the Live Labs 2 project in East Riding this year, where we've been changing audio sensors to continue to record wildlife around Hayton. We'll be taking all the data recorded & processing this through the BTO Acoustic Pipeline to identify the sounds captured!

We've been busy the past few weeks with our Local Wildlife Site panels, bringing for consideration candidate and existing sites that were surveyed in 2024 as part of our 10-year rolling re-survey programme of North Yorkshire SINCs and East Riding Local Wildlife Sites 🌷
