There is no such thing as “de-arresting” someone. Don’t convince yourself that’s a thing. The legal term — as in, the crime you will be charged with — for unlawfully removing someone from police custody is “Lynching”. Seriously. We went through this during Occupy Oakland. 5/x

Never, under ANY circumstances, make physical contact with a cop. Never convince yourself that there is a positive outcome there. Be smarter than that. I have seen up close, from the witness stand, how the cops treat protestors who make contact with them. 4/x

If someone next to you stumbles in front of an advancing riot line, pick them up and get yourself and them out of the way. Drag them if you have to. If the line advances over them/you, it’s over. 3/x

Do not let the OPD riot line advance and make contact with you. If they are coming in your direction, BACK UP. If they advance and make contact with you — which means IF THEY TOUCH YOU — they will take you into custody. NEVER get within snatch range of the riot line. 2/x
