Elon Musk’s newly merged SpaceXAI is reportedly facing a major talent drain, with more than 50 researchers and engineers leaving since February. Several key members behind Grok, coding systems, and AI model training have joined rivals like Meta and Thinking Machines Labs, raising concerns about the company’s long-term AI ambitions. The report also highlights growing pressure inside the company, including burnout, intense work culture, and unrealistic AI development deadlines. While SpaceXAI still has massive infrastructure and funding power, the ongoing exits are fueling questions about whether Musk’s AI venture can remain competitive in the race for frontier AI innovation. @LinkedIn, owned by @Microsoft, is reportedly planning to lay off nearly 5% of its global workforce, around 875 employees, despite posting 12% revenue growth this quarter. The move is part of a broader restructuring strategy to focus on faster-growing business areas. The layoffs reflect a wider trend across the tech industry, where companies are reorganizing operations amid rising AI investments and efficiency pressures. While sources say AI isn’t directly replacing jobs at LinkedIn, over 103,000 tech layoffs have already been recorded in 2026 alone. @Meta is introducing “Incognito Chat” for Meta AI on @WhatsApp, giving users a private way to interact with AI without conversations being stored or accessed, even by Meta itself. Built on WhatsApp’s Private Processing technology, the feature is designed for sensitive discussions around health, finances, work, and personal advice. The company says chats will disappear automatically, remain encrypted, and reset once the session ends. Meta is also preparing a “Side Chat” feature that will allow users to privately access AI assistance inside ongoing WhatsApp conversations without exposing messages to others in the chat. @X has launched a new History tab on iOS, giving users one place to revisit bookmarks, likes, videos, and articles without digging through different corners of the app. “A private place for your favorite content,” is how X describes the new feature. The update renames the Bookmarks button in the mobile side menu to History and divides content into four clear sections: Bookmarks, Likes, Videos, and Articles. Unlike Bookmarks and Likes, which users actively save, the Videos and Articles sections are based on what people watch or read on X, making the feature feel closer to a private browsing history. The move also supports X’s push into long-form content, helping users return to creator and publisher articles while encouraging more writing directly on the platform. As referral traffic from major platforms continues shifting, X appears to be building a more self-contained content hub where discovery, reading, watching, and revisiting all happen inside the app. Content Source: X, TechCrunch Media Source: X Disclaimer: The content and images are for educational use only. @tiktok_us has officially launched an ad-free subscription plan in the UK, priced at £3.99, that's around $5.44 a month. Users who sign up won't see any ads on the platform, and TikTok won't use their data for advertising purposes either. The plan is only available to users 18 and above and will roll out gradually over the next few months. UK's GDPR regulation is what actually triggered this, since it stops companies from using personal data for ads without getting user consent first. TikTok's UK managing director Kris Boger said the new option gives people greater control over their experience. TikTok first tested this back in 2023 and there's no word yet on whether it's coming to the US. Thinking Machines, the AI startup founded by former OpenAI CTO Mira Murati, has introduced a research preview of its new “interaction models,” AI systems designed to make conversations feel more natural, responsive, and humanlike in real time. Unlike traditional AI that waits for users to finish before responding, these models can process audio, video, and text simultaneously for smoother back-and-forth interactions. The company says its models significantly reduce response delays and could power use cases like live translation, real-time collaboration, and more intuitive voice assistants. Thinking Machines believes this marks a major shift from turn-based AI toward seamless human-AI communication, with a wider release expected later this year. Cowboy Space Corporation has raised $275 million in Series B funding at a $2 billion valuation to build orbital AI data centers and the rockets needed to launch them. Founded by Robinhood co-founder Baiju Bhatt, the startup began as Aetherflux in 2024 with plans to collect solar energy in space and beam it back to Earth. It has now pivoted toward using that orbital power directly for AI computing. Bhatt says launch capacity remains too scarce and expensive for space data centers to scale, especially as major rocket companies may prioritize their own payloads. That pushed Cowboy Space toward building an in-house rocket program. The company expects its first launch before the end of 2028 and plans to integrate data centers directly into the rocket’s second stage. Each satellite could weigh 20,000 to 25,000 kilograms, generate 1 MW of power, and support nearly 800 onboard GPUs. Cowboy Space will compete with heavyweights such as SpaceX and Blue Origin while developing its own rocket engine, facilities, and reusable booster ambitions. Bhatt argues the AI compute market is large enough for multiple players as Earth-based options become more limited. The company has also hired space veterans, including former Blue Origin propulsion engineer Warren Lamont and former SpaceX launch director Tyler Grinnell, to support its ambitious buildout. @GM has laid off more than 10% of its IT department, or about 600 salaried employees, as the automaker reshapes its technology workforce around AI-focused capabilities. The company confirmed the layoffs and said it is transforming its IT organization to better prepare for the future, though the move is not a straightforward headcount reduction. GM is still hiring in IT, but the focus has shifted toward AI-native development, data engineering, analytics, cloud engineering, agent development, model development, prompt engineering, and new AI workflows. The restructuring follows broader white-collar cuts across GM over the past 18 months, including about 1,000 software workers in August 2024, as the company concentrates resources on high-priority initiatives. GM’s software strategy has also shifted under Chief Product Officer Sterling Anderson, who joined in May 2025 and has pushed to consolidate the company’s technology businesses into one organization. The automaker has since added AI-focused leaders, including Behrad Toghi as AI lead and Rashed Haq as vice president of autonomous vehicles, signaling a deeper commitment to AI-driven software and mobility. For the industry, GM’s move shows what enterprise AI adoption increasingly looks like: not just adding AI tools, but rebuilding teams around people who can design systems, train models, engineer pipelines, and build AI workflows from the ground up. @OpenAI is making a major enterprise push with the launch of the OpenAI Deployment Company, a new majority-controlled business unit backed by over $4 billion in initial investment. The venture, supported by partners including TPG, Bain Capital, Brookfield, SoftBank, Bain & Co., Capgemini and McKinsey, is designed to help companies move AI from experiments to production-ready workflows. The company will embed Forward Deployed Engineers directly inside client organizations to identify high-impact AI use cases, redesign workflows and integrate OpenAI models with business systems, data and controls. OpenAI is also acquiring Tomoro, adding about 150 AI deployment specialists from day one, signalling that the next phase of AI competition may be less about models alone and more about real-world implementation at scale. Your next @netflix binge could now be part of a legal battle! Texas has sued Netflix, accusing the streaming giant of secretly collecting viewer data and using features like autoplay to keep users, especially kids, watching longer. The lawsuit also claims Netflix shared viewing data with advertising companies while publicly saying it didn’t collect that kind of information. Netflix has denied the claims and says it follows privacy laws everywhere it operates. The case is adding more fuel to the growing debate around data privacy, screen time, and how streaming platforms keep audiences hooked. A leaked AI model may have just revealed one of @Google's biggest announcements before I/O 2026 even begins. Reddit users reportedly discovered Google’s unreleased Gemini Omni video model hidden inside the Gemini interface. The leaked model card described tools for AI video generation, remixing, chat-based editing, templates, and direct scene rewriting. Early demos showed the AI removing watermarks, swapping objects, and editing clips through simple text instructions. While some users said the raw video quality still trails competitors, many praised the model’s editing capabilities. Failed acquisition talks reportedly pushed the company to an abrupt shutdown, even after raising over $200 million and pulling in $65 million in revenue. Patriot Bank confirmed the closure to customers this week while Parker's own website still has no mention of it going down. The CEO's last LinkedIn post reflected on doing things differently, like avoiding over-hiring and reactive decisions. Competitors are already sliding into Parker's former customer base, making this one of the messiest fintech shutdowns in recent memory. Federal regulators are now looking into Avride, @Uber's self-driving car partner, after spotting 16 crashes between December 2025 and March 2026. The robotaxis were caught struggling with basic things like changing lanes safely and spotting stopped vehicles ahead. One crash even left a person with a minor injury. What makes this more alarming is that a safety monitor was physically present in every single vehicle during these incidents. Avride says it has made improvements and that crash rates are declining. The legal spotlight is now shining on a surprising clash between music and tech! @DUALIPA has sued Samsung Electronics for $15 million, claiming the company used her image on TV packaging without permission. According to the lawsuit, the alleged use made it seem like the pop star officially endorsed the products. Dua Lipa’s legal team says they asked Samsung to stop using the image last year, but the company allegedly continued. Along with copyright and trademark claims, the singer has also accused Samsung of damaging her brand identity. Samsung has not commented on the ongoing legal case.
