The AI market is entering a phase where cost-performance matters more than raw demos.
That’s why Hy3 preview’s recent numbers are so interesting.
After switching from free to paid:
• Call volume only dropped ~20%
• Hy3 remained #1 on OpenRouter overall
• Still outperforming many peers in real developer usage
Those are production metrics, not marketing metrics.
And when you compare pricing, the gap becomes wild:
Claude Sonnet 4 input cost is reportedly 45x higher. GPT-4.1 is 30x higher.
Yet developers are continuing to deploy Hy3 in volume.
That suggests Tencent has found something extremely important:
the optimal tradeoff curve between capability, reliability, and operating cost for agents.
The “70% of Claude capability at 1/30 the price” framing honestly explains a lot of the adoption momentum.
In a world where inference economics increasingly decide product viability, that equation becomes very powerful.
